Newgrange, Ireland.

A year ago this month my wife, daughter and I did a quick vacation to Dublin, Ireland. My wife and I had been there before and even though there was plenty to see, I didn’t get the chance to see the one ancient site I really wanted to got to, Newgrange. About 30 minutes from Dublin by car, this site only gives out a certain amount of passes per day to visit the site. By keeping the tourism lower, this ensures the longevity of the site for future visitors.

Well this time I was prepared, and got my pass a couple of months before we traveled to Ireland.

Newgrange.

To visit Newgrange, you need to book a reservation in advance at the World Heritage Property of Brú na Bóinne. This area is Ireland’s richest archaeological landscape and is situated within a bend of the River Boyne. Brú na Bóinne is famous for the spectacular prehistoric passage tombs of Knowth, Newgrange, Hill of Tara and Dowth, which were built circa 3200 BC.

– Knowth: A prehistoric tomb overlooking the River Boyne has a large passage tomb surrounded by 17 smaller tombs.
– Dowth Passage Tomb: This is one of Brú na Bóinne’s main tombs which aligns with other passage tombs.
– Hill of Tara: This is an ancient ceremonial and burial site which is an inauguration site and the seat of the High Kings of Ireland.

The River Boyne.

The sign near the bridge describes the River Boyne as having a mythological and sacred meaning for thousands of years. Locals there speak about an unmarked standing stone near the river known as the “Hag’s Chair”. They say it is a seat for the Cailleach, who is a mythical hag who shaped Ireland’s landscape. They also say late at night if you sit on this stone under a full moon, you’ll hear the whispers of those who have died in that area.

Newgrange.

The construction of Newgrange was done by hand with an estimated completion of around 20 years or so. Workers had to drag 200,000 tons of stones they had dug up some 30 miles away to build on this site.

The Carbon dating on this structure shows it to be one of the oldest man-made structures on Earth! Older than Egypt’s pyramids by at least 700 years and older than Stonehenge by at least 1000 years!

Built around 3200 B.C., the heart-shaped hill occupies more than an acre and is surrounded by 97 massive curbstones, some with geometric carvings. The tomb is 36 feet high and has a diameter of 280 feet.

This is an enhanced picture of the entrance where you can see some detail inside. The streaks on the picture are not lens scratches but rain.

One of the most impressive features of Newgrange can be seen during the winter solstice. At this time, the sun’s rays penetrate a unique roof box then the light slowly moves up the tight 62-foot-long pathway and then lights up the central burial chamber. For the visitors who get to see the inside of Newgrange, they’ve added a light system that mimics what happens during winter solstice.

Entrance Stones.

The entrance stones have triple spiral designs engraved on them which some consider just designs, but here in the USA, the same types of carvings can be seen at ancient Native American sites and have specific meanings.

Some meanings of the ancient Native American spiral carvings are:
– A life’s Journey: An individual or family (clans) path through life.
– Cycles of Eternity: The cycle of life, death, and re-birth.
– Cosmic and Celestial Meanings: Sometimes they are calendars marking solstices and equinoxes.
– Natural Forces: Fire, Water, Wind, Mother Earth.
– Spiritual Meanings: Connections to the divine, the ancient ones.

We were not allowed to take pictures once inside the structure, but inside I saw more spiral designs carved into the rocks. The middle of the inner chamber has three small rooms which form a cross. The ceiling is around 20 feet high but the entry passage is a lot lower. There are overlapping stones which form a conical dome topped by a single capstone. These stones have been secure for more than 5,000 years and have kept the inside dry through many of storms.

Back of Newgrange.
I shot this picture of one of the stones towards the back of the site with an IR camera using a white light filter. I do this looking for anything else we can’t generally see with white light.

On every trip I go on I always take my SiOnyx Aurora PRO Color Digital Night Vision Camera and my Nikon Coolpix P1000 Digital Camera.

My SIOnyx Pro shoots great night-time video and is small enough to put in my pocket. My Nikon COOLPIX P1000 camera is the 35mm equivalent of a 3000mm focal length. Great for looking for UFOs in the sky.

Using the SIOnyx IR Camera with a filter, I took this picture of a stone which not only shows spirals but triangular impressions too!

The triangular carved designs are very interesting. To the Ancient Native North Americans this could mean, the knowledge of power. If you look closer at this enhanced image “below”, you’ll see other designs too!

Picture taken with my Nikon P1000 camera adjusting the lens for more detail.

Not that I’m an expert, but I disagree with a lot of the people who think these carvings are just for design. I believe every carving has a meaning and a purpose, and every line on the spiral is significant. Why?

Newgrange is considered a mythological dwelling of deities. In Irish folklore it’s said that Tuatha De’ Danann a supernatural race who are immune to ageing and sickness have powers of magic. Their powers gives them control of the weather and other Earthly elements. It’s also said they have the ability to shapeshift themselves and other things too! These deities live in the Otherworld which we would know as a parallel world. Newgrange would be an area where the deities could travel back and forth from their world to ours. Areas similar to this one like the Vortex’s in Sedona, Arizona, are energy sites that were and still are used for spiritual exploration and healing. Many have had strange experiences at these sites.

Like I mentioned earlier the North American Native Americans had many meanings for the spiral rock design, and a couple of meanings seems to be very significant here:

– Cosmic and Celestial Meanings: Sometimes they are calendars marking solstices and equinoxes.
– Spiritual Meanings: Connections to the divine, the ancient ones.

There’s no longer any doubt that many significant spiritual sites in many countries share similar design features. As if a spiritual Native American Kokopelli not just moved from tribe to tribe in the Americas but all through the world sharing knowledge.

Maybe a Kokopelli-like Alien?

This being a UFO site, I tend to always lean on the Alien topic when our ancestors had experienced very unusual things. Like the Vimanas or flying chariots described in ancient Hindu scriptures to Genesis 6 which is tied to Judaism and Christianity.

Genesis 6:
6. And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
2. That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose

Sons of God or Aliens?
