To Think Like an Alien, You Must Be an Alien

Posted by zukowski on April 16th, 2010

As long as I’ve been an investigator I’ve been asked “certain questions” like, “If we are being visited by extraterrestrials, then why don’t they just land on the White House lawn, or at some major televised event and make themselves known to us? Because that’s what I would do.”  Well it really doesn’t work that way and it doesn’t matter what you may do or what people think aliens should or shouldn’t do. For some reason humans seem to think they have an answer for everything, including alien reasoning. This can’t be further from the truth. Why is this? Could it be part of our ignorance or part of our culture? Maybe both. Either way it’s a big wake up call for certain people when they just don’t know. It’s not because they’re not intelligent, it’s because they just don’t understand how a different intelligence could think and react, so this tends to scare them.  Humans tend to fear what they can’t comprehend, so they have to find some type of reasoning to satisfy their lack of understanding.  Previously I specified “different intelligence” and not “higher intelligence” so I’ll take a quick detour and explain why.  Just because an alien can travel from a distant star, or maybe defy the physics we currently understand, it doesn’t necessarily mean they could be a higher intelligence.  They could actually be within the same ball park where our intelligence resides.

What if our civilization focused all its attention on technology for travel?  Where would we be now?  Our species has wasted and is wasting so much time and effort learning how to combat each other or trying to be the supreme being of all power on this planet that we really haven’t learned to fully work together.  So many previous technologies have been lost because of this, and the lack of “full” human cooperation and intervention has definitely slowed our technology train.  Don’t agree?  Consider Galileo for one.

Around 1610 Galileo started publicly supporting his theory which stated the Sun was at the center of our solar system.  He was faced with undesirable opposition from other philosophers and religious clerics. Eventually in early 1615 he was confronted by the Roman Inquisition.  In February of 1616 he was cleared of any offense, but the Catholic Church still condemned his theories as false and contrary to their Scripture, so he was warned to abandon his new direction.  After his 1632 publication “Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems” he was tried by the Inquisition, found “vehemently suspect of heresy,” forced to recant his theory and for the rest of his remaining life he lived under house arrest.  All they had to do was listen to the Mayans but that’s another blog of a different story.

So, regardless of your religious beliefs or how you feel about your favorite philosopher, what if Galileo was actually embraced with his new theories?  What if everyone just stopped to take the time to listen and at least explore the possibility rather than try to kill it or the man who was “philoso-phyzing” it? (ie. Bill and Ted)

So back to UFOlogy.  Let’s say an alien race came from a planet where they never experienced that type of conflict. What if this race of aliens evolved with the motivation for travel, to experience new environments, and meet new life forms (Wow sounds like Star Trek).  Could they be that much more intelligent than us?  If we were involved with a different directional thinking of technology back in the early, let’s say, 1300’s where would we be now?  Would we have seen an earlier version of Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein, or Sir Isaac Newton?  Anthropologists have said numerous times that humans 1000’s of years ago still had the mental capacity of modern day humans.  The only thing missing was modern day education.  But our personal evolutionary process has pointed us not only physically in a particular direction but mentally in a particular direction too!  We’ve been so obsessed with our own adversaries on this planet, learning their every move, studying they’re every thought, that we think we can do the same with an unknown species visiting our planet.  We’re still a lot closer to Stanley Kubrick’s 2001 ape race than the enlightened space travelers they become.  For now, the only way to really understand what an alien is thinking is to ask them, or kidnap them.  Actually some researchers say these events have actually happened, but for the sake of not writing a blog the size of “War and Peace,” I’ll just sway from that area (this time).

Again the “Bottom Line” is, it’s very difficult for us to answer unknown questions about an unknown species not indigenous to our planet. For instance:

Why cattle mutilations? What the hell?

Why abductions? Again…What the hell?

Why crop circles? Ok, pretty cool.

Why are you visiting our planet?

How long have you been visiting our planet?

Are you responsible for our technology advancement?

Are you from a distant star or from our future?

What mode of transportation do you use?

Are you responsible for our species’ evolution?

So many questions and yes, so many answers. There are literally thousands of books and papers written about these previous questions.  I’m not saying they’re right or they’re wrong, I’m saying, “Do we really know how an alien thinks?”  Hell, I’m usually wrong when I try to second guess my own wife…  (Hi Hun) NotthatI’msayingmywifeisanalien…but if we can’t even fully understand other cultures or opposites on this planet, then why in the hell do we think we can second guess other species visiting our planet?  Am I the only one seeing this?

So if you ever meet a person who says they know “exactly” how an alien thinks and they know exactly why aliens are visiting our planet doing what they’re doing, just remember this.

To “Think” like an Alien, You Must “Be” an Alien…

So what about that person you may meet?  Your guess is as good as mine.  One guess is to run away, real fast, without looking back, yelling obscenities in different languages, wearing a pirate costume.  Arrrgh!

I’d like to read your guess.  So post your comments or thoughts. Remember your guess could be just as good as my guess. But then again, your guess could be the correct one.

Especially if you’re an alien .……………….(gratuitous Dr. Evil laugh)

I always told my friends that if the world were to end…Aliens will give us the option to either stay or go with them…they think I’m nuts…what do they know…

I would like to comment on a quote but first. I really like that mindset. Your idea that while we where developing better methods of war another race may not have had so many breeds of its own race to fight and may not have had a threat of another race thus may have evolved its technology in other ways.

One thing I would like to add is in evolution is almost always seems that a race when under threat seems to evolve rather genetically or technology wise. So perhaps another race had a threat of planetary survival so it had to develop a method to find another world or die. And we did not have planetary threats but threats of other races within our own taking our country over so we put our efforts within developing methods to overcome the other sub race.

This would very much make it possible for the aliens not to be more advanced but happen to have the technology to fly across the stars. I never considered that before. I always thought they must be millions of years ahead of us. Pretty good mind set..

Now back on topic of my comment. You have a quote which I have heard so many times “If aliens are here why do they not just fly to our Whitehouse and say so” I laugh every time I hear this because its pretty much a known fact this did take place in 1952 i.e. the 1952 flyby. 7 UFOs did buzz our white house and then I believe they took over controls on some Nukes which caused some serious discussions about if UFOs where a matter of national security. While the Government admits they took over the “Hard Wired” controls they still claim they are no threat and where NOT a matter of national security which is obviously bogus. Its like someone having a key to your car and you saying there is no threat that they may take your car for a joy ride.

And after fact is a commonly known theory that the UFOs stopped at FPAFB and had a famous meeting with Truman. I believe most of this part came from John Lear’s letter that the Aliens had signed some agreement between USA and these Aliens. Rather this took place or not the Fact is there Was a 1952 Flyby where UFOs did fly right over the Whitehouse and then did something to our Nuke Controls.

So for all those who say “If these aliens exist why don’t they fly over our Whitehouse and announce there arrival” Well they did in 1952 only the powers that be covered it up. That is at least as far as I know and have come to believe. Now I do believe that after a meeting did take place at FPAFB.

Wow Chuck, I wonder what made you think so deeply about this subject. My theories are as follows: the “other” race (aliens) that visit may not want to interact with us. The “human” race is unpredictable in our emotions and behaviors and most people fear what we don’t understand. They have been here for sometime and there are numerous descriptions of different type ships. Perhaps they have been the ones responsible for the repairs to the earth and require these different type ships for different tasks. Maybe they are our policemen who will prevent our own destruction such as nuclear war. The earth holds the heaviest of elements in its core in our immediate universe. Perhaps they need some of these elements and most likely, they would not want the earth to “blow up” and send all sorts of earth pieces through space. They probably couldn’t breathe our atmosphere since earthlings and all other animals have adapted to our polluted air quality (would they develop asthma?) Could they eat our food? Is that why they disect cattle to see how we process the meat within our bodies? Could they survive and adapt to our different viruses and bacterias here on earth that we carry on our bodies just like other earth animals? Would they then develop cancer too? And mostly, if our (human) race and animals have been created by the Super Being, ie God, wouldn’t they (aliens) also be created as well?? Wouldn’t they also “answer” to their “Supreme Being”? If humans were chosen by God to carry a soul, maybe out of respect, they are not allowed to touch us. There are rules here on earth, maybe a bit different per country but perhaps there is an intergalactic law that prevents any type of invastion or seizure of “assets” of our planet that they (aliens) follow. There are such vast differences in human beings. There are still humans who use spears and bows and arrows. There are raticals that believe killing is for God. There are religious people who have big, generous, loving hearts. There are scientist that only believe what they know is factual. There are movie stars that only think of themselves and how their physical features look. There are those that kill for fun. I think if all humans were the same and predictable in the same way, they would interact with us but they (aliens) have no idea which they will get. I imagaine that we look no different than ants to them. All busy with making our nests and scrambling about in search for food or decorations for our houses, rushing around in our cars, taking the little ones to soccer practice. I believe they have no use for us.

Even Steven Hawking is getting back on this topic (sorry, no RSS, but here’s the link):

Hhhmmm, I was hoping you had some of those answers.

What if this is one of only a few planets that can still be inhabited? Maybe they fear us and we don’t see them because they have the ability to “blend” into their surroundings (ie change color to look like trees, rocks etc. or be translucent). Why as humans do we think all alien life must resemble us and communicate verbally? What if their are hundreds of species of alien life ,an entire food chain (of all intelligence levels and animal looking creatures). What if someone told you they are in your house right now and you didn’t even know it. Would we as the human race panic and fear what we don’t know and try to kill them or open our minds ? How many people would be willing to accept it if suddenly we were faced with the reality that everything we thought we knew about life and this planet was wrong? What if the truth is that we know nothing, our ancestors created stories to explain what they could not comprehend. Could we live in peace with these creatures even if someone told us they don’t want to kill or eat us.. but they don’t want us to bother them either. What if this “different intelligence” lead to many misunderstandings in the past? Would you be so quick to trust us again?

Maybe there are more and more sightings because they are trying to slowly get us used to the idea of their presence, maybe they see the human race destroying this beautiful planet … can we change ? Or will we continue to fear, deny and destroy ?

Answering questions with questions is a valid rethoric technique but insufficient to explain things: It reduces an argument to speculation devoid of scientific grounds. It is basically correct to state that aliens would probably think differently, but then trying to understand how they would think should come first, before concluding that a whole plethora of phenomena is attributable to such beings. It is a circular fallacy to assign credit for something to some entity on the basis that we cannot understand how it behaves, yet to pretend based on the same argument that unexplainable things should be the result of their decisions. As for where we would be if we focused our efforts in travel, perhaps the Kardashev scale of evolution of civilizations could help to understand that a bit.

Great read very interesting. I stumbled on this website by accident but im glad i did. Last year i was deployed to Afghanistan, while in a patrol base i was on watch at night and looking through my night vision googles at a village a click away and a disk shaped object was just above it as if it was observing.
A call came through on the radio that a contact (fire fight with taliban) was about go down. Anyway shit hit the fan for around fifteen minutes and still the disk was floating there observing, as soon as the shooting died the shape disappeared.

Now im not as smart as you lads but what do you think it could of been? I know the Australians and Americans use predator drones as scouting and aerial assualt craft, but this was nothing like i’d have ever seen. To me it looked like it was observing the fire fight between the coalitian and taliban forces.

What if one day you realized that Jesus was the result of an alien abduction. How would you react? Say, good, we killed the sucker? What if everything you thought you belived was a lie. Looking at humanity and it’s tendency to shoot first, ask questions later, if I were not from here, I sure would not come forward either. If, as Chuck said, they are not as advanced then, I for one am thankful they have not kicked our stupid asses out of this planet for being so pompously conceited and ignorant.
I still want to know who those Gods of old were who liked to receive burnt offerings. I wonder if I was related to them. I used to like my steaks well done before my ex taught me to eat it almost raw. LOL. Now I’m leaning towards vegetarianism. Maybe if they abduct me, which I doubt, since I’m volunteering and they seem to like the non volunteers, maybe to satisfy a sadistic sense? Who knows what dwells in the minds of aliens since we don’t even understand what goes on in the minds of men.
