Horses Mutilated in Rush Colorado! 08/11/2010

Posted by zukowski on August 29th, 2010

Fact! Two horses found mutilated on August 11th, 2010.

Fact! Two surviving animals, one horse, one dog found with unknown marks.

Fact! High electro-magnetic field readings measured on surviving dog.

Fact! Strange “whooshing” sound heard by wife of rancher two days before mutilations. During the day time!

What happened in the peaceful area of Rush Colorado one hour east of Colorado Springs? What happened on a dark moon-less night of Tuesday, August 10th ? What caused the mysterious “whooshing” sounds heard by the rancher’s wife Glenda, on Sunday afternoon August 8th? What caused the unusual markings on two surviving animals after the incident? Well, these were the questions the UFOnut investigative team set out to try to understand. Interviewing eyewitnesses, investigating the actual mutilation sites, checking the welfare of the slightly injured animals, and collecting data, these were our tasks at hand. And now these are our notes being released to you!

Two horses were mutilated and killed in the back pasture on this particular ranch. One named “Princess”, a one year old Paint horse, and another named “Buck”, a four year old Rocky Mountain horse. Two other animals were found alive with unusual markings on them, a yearling named, “King”, and the pet dog named, “Cody”. All three horses, Princess, Buck, and King, were fed grain with apple treats. No unusual diets which would single them out from the rest of the animals.

All pictures on this blog were taken August 28th, 18 days after the mutilation date, by the UFOnut investigative team. At time of investigation, no veterinarian has examined the carcasses or injured animals.

Buck was found on 08/11/2010 laying on his left side in the back pasture. He was healthy and his net worth was about $1000.00. He was not insured due to cost.

Tanya, Mike and Glenda’s neighbor who was also Buck’s trainer, described her initial viewing of the animal. “Buck was laying on his left side which exposed the right side to her. First she noticed his eye was missing and the tongue appeared to have been surgically removed. The back anal area was cut out in an unusual circular manner void of the penis. Upon closer visual examination, a long ( T ) like incision was seen going down the abdominal area of the animal with no signs of blood pooling due to the massive wound.”

Rancher Mike had stated he noticed the hide on Buck was grayish in color around the incisions. The left side of Buck appeared to be stripped to the bone from the side of the head to the upper neck. The left eye was missing too! He also claimed the cuts appeared to be laser like with a burn type smell associated with them. Due to the decomposition of the hide, burn markings were not visible upon our investigation.

When alive, Buck’s height was about 5 feet from the top of his back, and his weight was estimated at 1100 pounds. Scavenging was obviously present, but the carcass had not been moved from the original discovery area.

Dark soil which appeared to consist of excreted body fat and muscle fluids, roughly covered an area of 11 feet by 13 feet. The carcass was positioned on it’s side laying in a direction towards 30 degrees, northeast.

No radiation was detected at or near the animal, and its complete length was roughly 9 feet. The head measured 18 inches long by 11 inches wide at lower jaw, and when the head was turned over it revealed decomposing hide away from a possible circular area cut.

One side of the visible rib cage measured at 25 inches and appeared to be of normal health. The left hind leg was roughly 38 inches extended respectively, and the right front leg was 32 inches long.

EMF readings were measured at 4 to 8 microteslas throughout the body, and 10 microteslas at the head. The metal detector “wand” showed no signs of internal metal, and there were no unusual compass movements near or around the animal.

Note: EMF measurements are taken with a Natural Tri Field meter. We use this type of meter to look for stationary Electro-Magnetic fields which could be caused by electronic devices or residual fields from previous electronic devices. Just slowly wave the meter over the animal looking for a possible stationary field. For ghost hunting, you would place the meter down and hope a moving field would venture towards it. (ie. ghost)

Unusual etch-like markings were found on the rib cage on 9 of the 11 ribs visible. Markings started approximating three inches from the spine near the head region, and were consistent on all ribs progressively moving in a straight-line pattern to the 11th rib approximately 6 inches from the spine.

Note: These markings were not the cause of tissue connection or scavenger biting, but were bizarrely pattern consistent.

Approximately 260 feet away in a northeast direction lay the carcass of Princess. Princess was found on 08/11/2010, and was currently worth, $300.00. She was healthy but not insured due to cost. Her height when alive was estimated 4 feet from the top of her back and her estimated weight was 900 pounds.

Her carcass had been moved by scavengers and was scattered within a 22 foot area. After interviewing the rancher, the body was originally positioned about 30 degrees northeast. This is identical to the directional position Buck was found laying.

Tanya, Mike and Glenda’s neighbor stated, “Upon initial visual examination, Princess appeared as if she was just sleeping on her right side. A closer look at the exposed left side of her, revealed a 2 inch long 1 inch wide area shaved off to the skin on her front lower leg. Tanya also noticed the horse’s left eye was missing and the tongue appeared to have been surgically removed. In between the breast area, a 6 inch long 1 inch wide incision was seen too!” Blood appeared to have been pooling from a massive wound on the opposite side, but the animal was not turned over for Tanya to see.

On the right side of Princess, the rancher noticed the skin was stripped to the bone from the side of the head, down the neck similar to Buck. He did notice blood pooling around the animal.

Two separate dark soil areas consisting of body fat and muscle fluid excretion, roughly measured an area of 10 feet on the left and 12 feet on the right facing north.

No radiation was detected at or near the animal, and EMF readings were 4 to 7 microteslas at the body, and 10 microteslas at head. The metal detecting “wand” showed no hits, and there were no unusual compass movements around the carcass.

The complete length of the carcass is unknown due to scavenging and separation of the skeleton. The head measured 16 inches long by 9 inches wide at lower jaw, and the left hind leg measured roughly 16 inches long and the right front leg measured 26 inches in length correspondingly.

Note: We were unable to calculated accurate measurements due to the skeleton placement, so these were estimates.

Both horses normally didn’t venture out into the back pasture at night, and would normally stay in the barn during the evening. The night of the mutilation, the pet dogs were howling aggressively and were extremely restless. Rancher Mike had to go outside briefly to quiet them and didn’t notice anything unusual at that time. Also found quite strange by Mike, Glenda and Tanya, was the lack of evidence of struggle by both animals. There should have been defensive markings on the soil if the animals were fighting to survive. Both horses lay rigid appearing in a “tense-like” manner, comparing to plastic toy horse figures.

The surviving yearling named, “King”, appears to be healthy but very skittish. The animal’s behavior has changed dramatically since the day the other horses were found dead. King was running around as if possessed with ADHD, and literally moved in front of me protecting his sister Princess, when I was staring my investigation. I had to pause and stay with King a while to gain his trust before starting the field investigation on his sister’s remains.

Upon examination of King, the rancher pointed out an unknown small circular mark on his nose.

There are also small unknown oval-like marks on the inside of his front leg, and a very suspicious three quarter inch circular mark above his left shoulder blade near two unknown lacerations. All the mark locations did not appear to harm the animal when touched, and did not reveal any type of EMF spiking when measured. No indication of metallic objects were located, when the metal detecting wand was used.

The surviving dog named, “Cody”, appeared to be healthy but very cautious. The rancher claims Cody will not leave the front porch at night now and wants to enter the house. Normally Cody would roam the grounds throughout the night.

Upon examination of Cody, the rancher had originally noticed small laceration type markings on his left front leg. The lacerations did not appear oozy or fresh nor harmful to the animal when handled. Metal detecting wand did not measure any type of metallic inserts, but the Tri-Field EMF meter did register unusual spiking within the mysterious marking area. EMF spikes of over 100 microteslas were measured and filmed. This is twice the magnetic field of our planet and was similar to the measurements found with the Aaron cattle mutilation case of 2009. A test case was performed by measuring a neighbor’s same sized dog in the subsequent area. No EMF spiking occurred and only 4 to 6 microteslas were measured on him.

Note: (Instant theory) Rubbing and feeling beneath the skin around the area of the EMF spiking revealed no internal abnormalities. No probe-like instruments or internal scar tissue were felt. No discomfort was felt by the animal and he seemed to enjoy the attention. One thought is a possible EMF charge currently existing on that area of the animal. This could be due to some type of electro-magnetic pulse/laser/beam/? instrument which caused the scaring. Maybe it’s residual energy. Close attention to the health of this animal will determine if funding is required for an x-ray examination.

Some local residents believe in the possibility of “Black Stealth Helicopters” being the culprit of past and present mutilations in the area. Rancher Glenda remembers hearing a “whooshing” sound two days before the mutilations occurred, and local resident (name withheld) remembers seeing an aircraft of this type in previous years. Dark in color, no visible markings or FAA lettering, no conventional sounding engines, these type of aircraft seem to pop up from time to time. Another interview suggested unknown and unusually looking lights in the sky being the culprit. Illuminating and moving unlike conventional aircraft normally seen in the area, these strange lights zig-zagging back and forth, seem to defy modern day physics.

Preliminary Conclusion

Local authorities were initially contacted and a criminal case report was filed. No further law enforcement action was noticed by the ranchers, so they assume the case has been closed. The UFOnut investigative team was told they did a more detailed and intensive investigation than law enforcement. This is not surprising due to the lack of knowledge typical law enforcement representatives have on this subject. One action item is to contact the initial deputy requesting his report and pictures. Ranchers state three deputies arrived, one the first day of the 911 call, and two more the following day doing a follow-up. Further communication with the rancher will continue discussing the health of the surviving horse and dog. On-going monitoring will be needed.

This on-site investigation was initially to be quick and non-detailed due to the amount of time since the mutilation and the decomposition of the carcasses. But upon arrival, the investigation took a detailed turn and became a fact finding mission. Too many unanswered questions and too many unknown details were discussed not only with the ranchers but with their neighbors as well. This investigation will be on-going with future visits hopefully gathering new information. It seems this part of Colorado has a history of strange and extraordinary occurrences which demand close examination. Up to the challenge, the UFOnut team will pursue, investigate and inform the readers if any new evidence should appear.

UFOnut – Episode 006: Rush Horse Mutilation

Posted by mmorgan on August 29th, 2010

This is one of the most interesting cases Chuck Zukowski and the UFOnut team has investigated. Two horses were mutilated in Rush, Colorado at the Utopia Ranch owned by Glenda and Mike Schneider. A third horse and dog were also said to be involved in the event because of the wounds found on them after the incident. The UFOnut team will be doing further investigating on this case and this part of Colorado with the witnesses and other stories about the area.

Syfy “Fact or Faked” “Solved Sanchez 2006 Mutilation Case!” Bloating! (If the animal was a Chamois)

Posted by zukowski on August 20th, 2010

The August 19th airing of Syfy’s new show “Fact or Faked” touched base on one of my cattle mutilation cases here in Colorado, the Sanchez case which can be read in detail on this website. Upon viewing my segment, the show constantly misused information that both I and rancher Sanchez had given them, and this attributes to nothing more than lack of experience. Theirs not mine. The show is weak in getting the correct information across to the viewers and they seem to be pretty good at it. They constantly mention four mutilations occurring within one month. What they fail to mention is Manual Sanchez had four mutilations on his ranch alone within a three week period. His fourth was the one I investigated and that was the information I gave them for this show. I also investigated two more cases within March, then another one in November and yet another in December. A total of five for me for 2009. Oh a quick note before I go further.

I would like to apologize to rancher Sanchez, I had no idea I was dealing with such inexperienced people.

I regretted helping Base Productions with this episode from the get go. That’s why it was not posted on my website. When they first contacted me, all they wanted was information to pitch their show to Syfy. I was very suspicious of their intentions, but like an idiot I didn’t listen to my other investigator friends telling me to shy away from these guys. So, why did other investigators warn me about Base Productions?  Well Bob Kiviat is involved with Base Productions. Remember Bob from Alien Autopsy? I know, I know…

Note to all production companies who contact me in the future about any of my previous investigations: I won’t be so gullible or so easy to just give out free information now. You can thank our buddies at Base for this.  Lesson learned.

Note to any viewers who watched the show: The picture shown at the very beginning and all through the episode of the full size mutilated cow is not my picture, but Mr. Sanchez’s. It depicts his first mutilated cow from 2006 and not my case in 2009. Confusing huh?

Well to say the least, the episode was very confusing even to me and I was there! Geeesh. Are they trying to solve the 2006 mutilation or the 2009 case I investigated? Paddle handling back and forth between the two mutilations, for a minute there I thought I was watching, “Balls of Fury”. Oky Doky Artichoky!

I’m not going to say anything negative about Bill, Chi-Lan, or Larry, the three investigators working on my case. Well at least not yet. All three were very professional to me, but I realized when I met them, they really didn’t know who I was nor were they familiar with my investigations. Good investigators will at least do some research before they go out on assignment. Maybe Google my name next time guys.

Ok, so let’s look at their investigation.

First I take the team to the site where rancher Sanchez is waiting. They ask me where the calf was laying and I show them. At that moment the episode cuts to showing a picture of the 2006 mutilation and not the 2009 calf mutilation. Why? I don’t know! Then Syfy investigator Chi-Lan asks me to describe the calf I investigated explaining the complete missing center section. This doesn’t make sense when they keep showing pictures of a completely different animal. Now they ask the rancher if he’s seen anything strange in the area, and he describes the strange light sighting he had a couple of months prior to the mutilation. This amazes them as the camera pulls in tight for that “hmm” thought.

The F’ team (that’s how I’ll refer to the Syfy team from now on) decides to Ground Sweep the area for EMF and radiation detection. I did both of these tests back in 2009. Of course they knew this because it was in my notes I gave them with all my investigative pictures. You’ll see the pictures I gave them later in the show, it’s the photo binder in their hand when they’re talking with the veterinarian. Next the F Team finds a bone from one of the calves from 2009. All they had to do was ask where the bones were.  Rancher Sanchez and I could see bones everywhere and even pointed it out to them. Oh well it played out nicely for them on TV.

F Team Bill mentions that skeptics believe mutilations are either a man made hoax or a natural predator attack. The team incorporates the expertise of a veterinarian to help them with a little experiment. Let’s talk about the veterinarian for a moment.

The veterinarian they had was acquired on short notice and she traveled out from New Mexico. Negotiations with the local vet they were originally speaking with fell through. Why did I know this? Because I talked with him. Originally one idea was to have the vet debate me on camera about why I think these mutilations are unknown deaths. I didn’t like that idea and didn’t want to trash anyone on camera. I respect the vets working in the area, and welcome their opinions. So I called the vet and we had a nice chat over the phone. Anyway negotiations fell through with him, and Base Productions had to bring another veterinarian in, Dr. Amy Mason from New Mexico.

When I briefly met Dr. Amy her first words to me were, “Let’s see if I can figure this out”. I told her that remark was an insult to all investigators and law enforcement individuals across the world trying to solve these strange deaths since 1967. She was a little confused with my compassion so I started showing her pictures of my previous cases explaining my findings. She became very interested.

The F team performs a “Mutilation Replication Test”. This was interesting. They had Dr. Amy use an electro-cauterizer on an animal they brought out from Denver. Why? Because Bill states on the edge of the incision (in the 2006 picture I guess) there appears to be burn marks. He’s pretty good making that statement from a picture and non-investigative case. So he wants to try to mimic the results. Results? Who made the claim the 2006 animal had burn marks around the incision? Well as you guessed, the cauterization technique doesn’t work for the experiment.

Have you ever heard of a predator making these types of cuts? This question was asked by F Team member Chi-Lan to Dr. Amy during their experiments. Dr. Amy is on top of her game and states, “Usually predator kills will show claw marks and bite marks and teeth marks, and you’ll see where they have left tracks and trails.”

Next the F team has Dr. Amy use a heavy duty hand held green laser to try and make surgical cuts. Do we have field surgical battery operated hand held lasers which can cut through leather coats? I don’t think so. Next they try a knife and a scalpel. Well the good Dr. Amy states, “ The carcass was completely cleaned out, void of any meat, any organ material, any vessels. You know I don’t believe any person would be able to do that.” Yep she turned to the dark side.

“If people aren’t doing this, maybe it’s a result of animal attacks” F Team investigator Bill says. So they decide to leave the carcass outside over night hoping for scavenger damage so as to compare with the 2006 photo.

F Team Chi-Lan then states, “San Luis Valley has had five cases of UFO sightings reported since 1996”.

This is just wrong and she didn’t do her home work or whoever did the homework for her is just lazy. We get numerous sightings every year out of the San Luis area. All they had to do was contact the UFO Watch Tower in Hooper and talk with Judy, or Rick Nelson with Paranormal Research in Denver who had a sighting when I was with him last year, or Stan Romanek who had a sighting during mine and my sister’s lecture at the tower.  Or how about just asking the residents there? Hey that’s an idea. Two sightings occurred just last year associated with my cattle mutilation investigations, Duran and Sanchez! Once again a non-investigator making investigative claims.

Oh, and of course this makes her think there there could be a coloration between mutilations and lights in the sky. Well at least five of them.

Night Investigation: The F team sets up multiple night vision cameras in hopes of capturing a scavenger feeding off their carcass, or maybe even capture a real cattle mutilation. They also point one camera towards the night sky just in case a UFO happens to mosey over. Oh by the way “Infrared cam 4” in front of the car looking up towards the sky. I did a quick star chart check for March/April when they filmed. It looks as though they pointed the camera to the right of Ursa Major. Anyone want to take a guess? They really needed to use a wide angle lens for this shot or do what I do. Point a night vision video camera down into a mirror which is reflecting the night sky from horizon to horizon. This technique gives you a large field of view rather than a couple of stars. But why listen to me, I’m just a UFOnut investigator without my own TV show doing real investigations.

So here is their big theory. They didn’t capture anything paranormal with their meters, and their veterinarian couldn’t mimic the surgical-like cuts with the procedures she ran, but their night vision did film a bird scavenging off of their dead cow. So maybe mutilations are a more natural occurrence. Here we go.

Bloat Test: They told me about this one and I just laughed and casually walked away pretending to talk to myself. I didn’t answer myself, just posed idiotic questions. One of the theories obtaining the precise incisions on mutilated animals is due to natural bloating of the animal after death. So how do they achieve this experiment? They use a chamois (consumer grade cow hide) covering a balloon which they filled with air.

Note: A consumer grade chamois goes through a chemical tanning process which enables the hide to deliver maximum absorbency and durability.

The balloon inflates and the chamois stretches along an edge which appears to have pre-puncture marks until it rips. Result? It rips! Oh happy day, they achieved a precise cut with this experiment. They solved the case! No seriously,  they think they’ve solved it!

Now enter the F Situation Room: This is where the great minds of the Syfy investigative team congregate and discuss their findings while patting themselves on their backs. This is their findings from my 2009 case and the 2006 mutilation.

No trace of radioactivity where the cow was. (This pertains to the 2009 case and not the 2006 case which their experiments were based on. Why didn’t they go to the location of the 2006 mutilation and check for radiation? Oh I know why? Because they didn’t think about it!)

They found a single bone under the tree, had it analyzed and it was just a cow bone, nothing unusual. They really didn’t state what exact tests they performed to do the analysis on the bone.

They tried to replicate mutilations with their own dead cow, and that didn’t work. (Really? Did they think they were the first to try this? Once again they didn’t do their homework.)

They pointed night vision cameras toward the carcass, catching evidence of bird scavenging. Thus viewing natural Mother Nature type causes.

Next the chamois test: Yeah this was their “smoking gun” test, and they also get to use it on their “Hero Mobile”. Really, that’s how they referred to the vehicle they were driving.

Analysis? The 2006 case is a natural phenomenon with the surgical incisions on the side of the face, neck and upper body being attributed to animal bloating.  The case is closed.

Nothing was said about my 2009 investigation in which I gave them more information than they needed to perform an adequate experimental analysis.

My analysis? The F Team are inexperienced people who muddle around competing with each other to be on camera. Yeah I noticed this first hand. Yep they’re incompetent and viewers shouldn’t be wasting their time watching the show unless it’s part of a beer drinking game. Ok, here are the rules of the game. You take a drink every time the F Team do or say something unprofessional during the show. The problem with this game is you might be drunk before you get five minutes into the program. In which case I would turn the channel and watch South Park. Why?  Because South Park makes more sense!

Now you can decide for yourself. The following picture is from the 2006 Sanchez mutilation. This is Manual Sanchez’s picture not mine, please give him credit for it!

Look how the F Team’s analysis of bloating could rip the skin from the jaw and the neck area. Oh by the way, where’s the skin flap? If bloating rips the skin then where did the excess skin go to? Oh I know, chamois!

Well you decide and please state your comments. If you like the show, then you can comment too! We won’t delete them. (notasfarasyouknow)

CRESTED BUTTE COLORADO CATTLE MUTILATION 08/2010

Posted by zukowski on August 13th, 2010

On Monday August 2Nd UFOnut.com received the following sighting report from Whitney Ellis. (Permission was granted to use Whitney’s name, location of investigation and ranch ownership of animal is not publicized at this time pending the rancher’s approval)

Name: Whitney Ellis
Comment:
Today, August 1, 2010 at 11:00AM upon entering the (censored) trail in Crested Butte, my boyfriend and I discovered a dead cow some distance from the trail head. We wandered to investigate the cow carcass expecting to find evidence of a wild animal attack but rather we discovered a bizarre and unnatural sight. The brain and ear of the cow appeared to have been removed (through surgical methods) and there was evidence of anal inflammation. No animal markings, blood or predator tracks were to be found. Additionally the cow was lying on its back in a stiff shocked position. * I have vivid photographs* the cow seemed to have been left undiscovered. The remainder of the herd left the cow alone until two hours later, upon completion of our hike; we found the herd surrounding the dead cow.

I want to emphasize that I’m not a veterinarian, rancher or sheriff. I was not able to examine the animal, so I could be wrong about my observations, specifically the removal of the brain, I am quite certain that the ear was removed.  I have notified the local police station.

(end of report)

Note: First I would like to thank Whitney for not only taking the initiative to investigate a dead animal that so many others either missed or didn’t care to examine, but also for researching and reporting the sighting to the UFOnut.com website.

Upon receiving the sighting report, I immediately contacted Whitney to discuss her discovery.  This investigation is quite different than the other cattle mutilation cases I’ve investigated, and the big difference is, “This one is an eye witness initiated investigation”.  The other cases were initiated by the ranchers, so I had to pursue this one a little differently.

First, I needed to contact Whitney for a phone interview and pick up some necessary information.

Second, I needed to research the location of the animal and look for a history of mutilations in the area.

Third, I needed to contact the team and decide if we were going to do this investigation.

Fourth, I needed to contact the rancher for approval to run an investigation on the animal.

The interview with Whitney was quite interesting and I was delighted to learn that she is also a professional photographer so her vivid photographs were probably not so vivid.  Her pictures helped me and the team make the decision to take the 3 hour trek to Crested Butte, Colorado to take a look at this animal.

There have been animal mutilation stories coming out of this part of Colorado, but nothing recently and nothing I’ve ever investigated, so we were eager to see this one. One of my main concerns about doing cases like these are whether or not it’s an actual mutilation, or unknown death. As Whitney stated in her sighting report, she’s not a rancher which would make her unfamiliar with normal cattle deaths due to poisons, viruses, or predators, but she is a concerned eye witness which makes up the majority of reports we receive.  Animal mutilation investigations can be a “crap shoot” so to speak, by gambling with your time, resources and expenses.  I wasn’t completely prepared for this case because I couldn’t get the information I needed to contact the rancher.  Some initial information gathered put the exact location of the animal on public access land so I wasn’t too concerned about trespassing. But without the rancher’s initial permission my investigation becomes more of a “visual investigation” only touching an animal if I feel there was foul play. If evidence of foul play was present, then it makes the death a criminal case in which the rancher and the local authorities would have to be notified. Because time is of the essence with mutilation cases, I had to see the animal as quickly as possible.

Locating the animal was a bit of a challenge, we were given directions from the eye witness and wouldn’t have the luxury to be shown the location in person. Being unfamiliar with the area and hiking trails, we… well… we got lost. Oh we knew we were in Colorado, and hopefully still in the Crested Butte area, but “Where was that damn cow?” Sounds like a reality show. Ok, note to all you up and coming investigators out there. Find the actual site first and then carry all your investigative gear out there. Don’t do what I did and carry your gear hiking through the woods for more than 2 hours while looking for a cow which was actually 5 miles away. Oh the woes of being an investigator, at least it was a pleasant day’s hike. (I’m lying of course)

The following information is from my investigative notes:

Eye witness’s friend did not see the animal at this location during a hike on Saturday 07/31/2010.

Eye witness spotted the animal on Sunday 08/01/2010.

Eye witness contacted UFOnut website sightings report and was contacted on Monday 08/02/2010.

Investigation initiated on Tuesday 08/03/2010.

Type, age, weight, and medical history of animal: These particular stats are unknown without further communication with the rancher.

Animal was bloated and gas was released when rolled over (ok, it farted and it wasn’t pleasant).

Animal legs were in an unusual position and did not appear damaged. Normally the animals are laying on their left or right side; this one had its legs pointing up towards the sky. One explanation could be the bloating of the animal and the curvature of the land it was lying on. As the animal bloats (like a balloon) the animal could roll if on a slight incline.

There was no evidence the animal was dropped from any height.

Tail was removed leaving a stub. This could be scavenger damage because noticeable tail hair was seen nearby.

Animal was approximately 7 foot 5 inches from tip of nose to tail stub.

Estimated girth was 5 foot 8 inches.

Head length from tip of nose to lower jaw bone curve was 14 inches.

Estimated length of legs approximately 2 feet 6 inches.

Lower teeth were clean and not broken.

Tongue appeared to be missing.

Round circular hole in anal area approximately 11 x 5 inches. Not sure if original damage was of unknown origin, but it did appear to have slight scavenger damage by the time we saw it.

Small circular damage on stomach area due to bird scavenging. We viewed this.

Circular damage where right ear used to be approximately 9 x 4 inches.

Right eye damaged due to bird scavenging.

Left eye undamaged due to animal lying on left side.

Left ear was present with ranch tag attached.

EMF testing across body of animal yielded around 8 to 10 microteslas. This has been consistent with other mutilation cases I’ve investigated.

EMF testing near unusual circular damage on right side yielded 4 to 6 microteslas.

Hand held Metal detector sweep of entire animal showed no signs of metal detection.

I was unable to use my field metal detector due to damage sustained during transportation. I would normally sweep the ground around the animal looking for any type of anomalies.

Compass check showed no signs of unusual magnetic fields.

Animal was laying approximately 275 degrees towards the West, nose first.

The animal was lying in the center of a circular damaged grassy area. The eye witness reported seeing other cows circling the dead animal for a short period of time. This is interesting.

Circular incision on right side including the ear. Some hide is seen where the upper ear used to be.

Picture of mouth showing little damage and lack of a tongue.

Summary of investigation (pending further information):

This mutilation case is an interesting one. First it was initiated by an eye witness who took the time and went the extra mile to research and finds this website to report her sighting. Thank you Whitney. Second, I tried and couldn’t get in touch with the rancher before the investigation was initiated. I like to have the rancher or a representative from the ranch meet me at the location and observe my investigation. This way I can ask questions and answer any questions they may have during the investigation. I can also learn more about the history of animal. Third, because I wasn’t able to speak with the rancher before the investigation, I only performed a visual investigation on the animal only moving it once looking for possible gunshot entry and exit wounds.

When we finally located the animal we saw it was lying in an area where the general public has complete access. The animal was lying in the center of a circular impression at least 50 yards from the closest access trail. Upon walking up to the animal we viewed birds scavenging off the animal and noted the areas they were feeding from. The smell of the dead animal was not that overwhelming which seemed to coincide with a recently deceased animal within the time frame the witness had described.

Upon inspection of the circular wound on the right side of the head I was concerned it could be trauma due to a fire arms wound. I checked closely into the wound looking for any type of bone fragments or splintering of the skull due to bullet impact. I saw none. I took the initiative to flip the animal over to check for a possible entry or exit wound and noticed the animal tag located on the left ear. There were no signs of possible bullet damage.

Upon inspection of the mouth area no tongue was noticeable. Previous mutilation investigations I have worked on have had some cows with tongues and some cows with the tongues removed. Because I didn’t have the rancher’s permission to proceed further, I was only able to perform a visual inspection of the mouth.

The team was able to speak with some of the local residents and was informed that a bear had been seen off  in the distance earlier that day. The bear obviously picked up on the scent but was unable to venture closer to the animal probably due to the abundance of human traffic on the trail nearby. There were no signs of bear or predator kill evidence on the cow or near the scene. Either way we didn’t want any unwanted visitors helping us with our investigation so we picked up the pace.

Summary:

The following day Wednesday 08/04/2010, I contacted the law enforcement agency within that area and talked with the police chief. (Agency name withheld at this time). He told me due to Whitney’s report he sent an officer to check on the animal. The officer reported back that it was his assumption the animal died of Monks Hood poisoning. Monks Hood is a weed which when eaten can be deadly to animals. Symptoms of the poisoning include bloating and paralysis which was seen on this animal. The officer also reported the cavity on the right side of the head was probably due to the rancher removing the ear to retrieve the tag. I informed the Police Chief the tag was located on the left ear, and there would be no reason for a rancher to cut into the skull of an animal to retrieve a tag, and (oh by the way) the tongue was also missing. I promised to send my investigative report and all my pictures to his department if a criminal case is opened in the future.

After repeated times calling and leaving messages with the ranch, I was finally able to speak with a family member associated with the ranch. They were not aware of the animal’s death and, while upset, expressed appreciation for the work we did and for reporting the dead livestock.  I gave them the ear tag number so they could trace the cow. I asked if they could send someone out to the site and look at the animal first hand and verify my findings, and then get back to me. At this time they have not returned my phone calls.

I’m not going to speculate the reasoning why I’m having such a difficult time communicating with the ranch; it may be nothing more than playing simple phone tag. In some cases, the ranch owners are not always present year-round.  Others are also worried about the ‘giggle factor’ when it comes to being associated with a paranormal investigation, no matter how seriously it’s taken by my team and the public that wants to understand what’s going on in these cases.  Nevertheless, I am persistent and will eventually talk with someone there. After I get their point of view on this matter I will release an up-dated blog. If they give me permission to release video of the investigation, then that will be released too! So at this time this is what I have to offer about this investigation.

Let it be noted that regardless of the outcome, we need to document these cases looking for any possible patterns. Still being fairly new to these investigations with now six under my belt, I still like playing the skeptic and not jump to any preliminary conclusions. I release the information and then let the readers communicate their personal opinions. Remember, cattle mutilation cases have been going on since the late ‘60’s with no one person being caught, tried or convicted. Police agencies not only across the US but in other countries have taken reports, investigated and have not been able to locate the culprits. These are real-life cold cases and are criminal acts regardless if they are human or even alien initiated. At this time I have seen no evidence of alien intervention, but I have seen evidence of extremely intelligent intervention. More intelligent than your run of the mill animal predators.

Of course if Yogi traded in his picnic basket for a degree in medical science, then all bets are off.

Roswell Festival 2010

Posted by zukowski on July 9th, 2010

(Me, Debbie, and Alejandro Rojas)

This year’s Roswell Festival started out with a toast. A toast not only to this years speakers, but a toast to all the people who made the trek to experience Roswell at its best. Roswell is nice to visit on the “off” season, that would be anytime outside of the July 4th weekend, I just enjoy the July 4th season the most. It’s a good time to visit my friends in Roswell and also rub elbows with other friends who work the lecture circuit. Oh, the fireworks are awesome too!

There’s always plenty to see and do during the festival. Most festivals only sport one lecture series, this one sports three.

Ancient of Days : War of The Worlds, at the Roswell Public Library.

The Roswalien Experience 2010, at the International UFO Museum and Research Center.

Roswell, UFO, & New Mexico: 1947 & Beyond Roswell UFO Symposium, at the Roswell Museum and Art Center.

(Debbie in front of our booth)

Debbie and I spoke at the Roswell Museum & Art Center. This event is hosted by the city of Roswell and the one we generally lecture for. All three are good sources to gather different blends of information, and all three give the city’s visitors plenty to choose from. The picture above is our speaker table where we hung around from time to time to answer questions. We also gave out candy goodies to entice passer-bys to stop and say hi. Yep, we bribe them.

(Jesse Marcel Jr co-hosting the Roswell UFO Hall of Fame Inductions)

Jesse was just a young boy when his father woke him and his mother late one night and showed them unusual looking debris. The strange looking pieces of metal were gathered by Jesse Sr. and Sheridan Cavitte at the Foster Ranch crash site. Jesse Sr. and Sheridan were under direct orders from the Roswell Army Air Force Base to retrieve samples of the debris and bring them back to the base. Jesse Jr. never thought that one late night adventure would forever change not only his life but the lives of so many others. Check out the video on this website, “08.02.09 – Episode 002: Return to the Roswell debris Site.” The video shows me and Debbie taking Jesse Jr. to the debris site for the first time in his life. This was the location where Mac and his son Vern originally found the debris which later was shown to Jr. by Sr. It was an honor escorting him out there and being able to share that experience with him.

Two new “UFO celebrities” were added to the Roswell UFO Hall of Fame during the second annual induction ceremony on Friday, July 2nd. Two good friends of mine, Jesse Marcel Jr. and Peter Robbins, co-hosted the event which paid tribute to Paul Davids and Stanton Friedman (who was able to sneak away from his lectures.) The first inductee in July of 2009 was Jesse’s dad, Major Jesse Marcel Sr.

Paul Davids, a world renowned filmmaker, is best known “In Roswell” for being the executive producer for the 1994 movie, Roswell. This movie was nominated by the Golden Globe Awards as one of the five best television movies of 1994. Definitely my favorite, this movie included well-knowns as, Dwight Yoakam and Martin Sheen. Probably one of the best movies which depicted the events of 1947 so accurately.

Stanton Friedman… what can I say about Stanton except for referring to him as the “Father of Roswell”. Stanton re-generated the Roswell incident. If it wasn’t for him, there probably wouldn’t be a festival. In 1978 Stanton located and interviewed Major Marcel, Jesse’s father. Within just two years after that, over 62 eyewitnesses were located, thus changing Stanton’s life from then on. And it’s still changing today. With new information at every one of his lectures, Stanton is always a pleasure to see and experience.

(Travis Walton and Debbie)

Travis Walton is known for the November 5th, 1975 UFO incident in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest in Arizona. After seeing an unusual craft from a pick-up truck with the logging crew he was with, Travis jumped from the truck and ran closer to the object. Why? I keep asking him that when I see him. His response? “I wanted a better look”. Well he got one. Struck down by a beam of light, then taken by the occupants of the craft, Travis was gone for five days. The book and movie ”Fire in the Sky” depicts the events of those horrific days. Travis’s updated version of the book adds a chapter which includes information not in the movie. It also talks about incidents in the movie which never happened. Just Hollyweird crap, not like they needed to add anything to the movie to make it more interesting. It’s always fun seeing Travis which gives us time to play catch-up and make fun of the other speakers. Like Alejandro. heh heh

(Hines House, Foster Ranch near debris site)

This year like all previous years included a trip to the debris site. Last year, as I mentioned, we escorted Jesse Marel Jr. and this year we took our good friends from Open Minds Magazine: Alejandro, Tom, and Maureen. Watching Alejandro walk around the desert while taking in the whole environment, I asked him what his theory was on the Roswell incident. He said, “It was just a weather balloon”. So we left him there. Oh we gave him a bottle of water, an energy bar and some sun screen. I’m sure he’ll be alright.

I’m just kidding, he doesn’t really think it was a weather balloon… but we still left him there anyway. He talks too much and it’s a long drive. ;-)

Going out to the debris site is not about taking other investigators out there and acting all important, it’s about documenting environmental changes which have occurred at the archeology site. Earth, Wind and Fire (not the band) is what we look at the most. Documenting the changes throughout the years we’ve been there, we watch how natural erosion contours the ground. This gives us a good idea how the landscape continues to change since that July night of 1947. Monitoring rain flow, fires, and high winds, we are starting to get a pretty good idea where the best place to excavate would be the next time we have the opportunity. And no, we don’t bring metal detectors or archeology equipment with us. It is BLM property and an active archeology site. Permits must be acquired to take anything from the site, and we’re all about doing it right. So far every artifact which came out of the area has been acquired legally and by the “proverbial archeology book.” The skeptics and debunkers have no ammunition to battle us with this one, so modern day science-1, debunkers-0.

Many thanks to all my friends and fellow investigator/researchers we met with at this year’s festival. Many thanks to the Open Minds Magazine crew for having very professional and fun people to hang with. Many thanks to the City of Roswell for inviting me and Debbie to speak, and many thanks to the UFOnut team, Matt and Trina, for being there to document not only our experiences but other peoples’ experiences too! More on that later, and it’s worth waiting for.

Also, a shout out to Robert Ridge, Dennis Balthaser, Cliford Clift, Richard Dolan and Guy Malone. Sorry I couldn’t touch base with you more.

Keep Lookin’ Up! (and towards Roswell)

IRON MAN “Human or Alien Technology?”

Posted by zukowski on May 1st, 2010

Today, we’re able to purchase a vast array of very high-end technological gadgetry which is more sophisticated than the majority of our space probes and satellites. The Space Shuttle is a good example of a piece of outdated hardware compared to which my own Blackberry phone is more advanced.

As a microchip designer I’ve personally experienced technology jumps throughout the years of my occupation, which makes hardware become obsolete rather quickly.  A laptop computer is a perfect example of this.  This is an item you really need to roll-over every 3 years if you want to stay on top of its technology curve (Japanese users, disregard, your curve is still 3 weeks).  Most cell phones are more sophisticated and more powerful than the computers I used to design chips on years ago.

Anyway let’s get back to the blog. Today UFO researchers are saying various technologies are being linked to an ET intervention, so I thought I would use a Superhero as an example, and I happen to think Iron Man is pretty cool.

Iron Man History:

Iron Man is a comic book superhero who first debuted in a Marvel Comics edition called, “Tales of Suspense” in 1963.  Created by the master of superhero extraordinaire Stan Lee, this character was not always a superhero, but just a mere mortal like you and I.  Very advanced technology changed all that for him, and so the story begins.

Anthony “Tony” Stark was the child of Howard and Maria Stark owners of Stark Industries.  When Tony was young, he was fascinated with machine technology. When he turned 15 he enrolled at MIT and graduated with two masters degrees by the time he was 19.  He then went to work for his father at Stark Industries, but couldn’t succumb to the model employee vision his father had set for him.  More of a playboy, from time to time he reaped the benefits of his family’s fortune with wine, women, and (ok I’ll say it) song.  Yes he was a singer, stood in for Ozzy one night when he got sick after biting the head off a bat (blog humor).

When Tony reached the age of 21 his parents were mysteriously killed in a car accident arranged by rival competitor ROXXON, so he then inherited Stark Industries.  Later while attending a field test of military hardware at one of his international plants, he and his crew were attacked by a gang of terrorists.  During the attack there was an explosion and a piece of shrapnel lodged near Tony’s heart. Kidnapped and taken back to the terrorist camp, he shared a prison cell with Professor Ho Yinsen a world famous physicist.  Knowing he was going to die soon to the shrapnel near his heart, he convinced the professor to help him build a crude version of a battle suit which Stark Industries was secretly developing.  The suit used a magnetic field generator for power which would also help save his life by keeping the shrapnel from moving and puncturing his heart.  After the suit was complete and while its power source was charging, some of the terrorists intervened by killing the professor and Tony was able to escape using the suit.  Of course, this is the short-short version, so if you want more information on Iron Man, I suggest go to Marvel.com.

Tony Stark is a very intelligent character, but even intelligence has its limitations when you hit technology hurdles.  “Jim, you can’t change the laws of physics!” (Dr. McCoy).  Or can you, if you have a little help, maybe a push?  Iron Man has very cool hardware at his disposal that’s ready at a moment’s notice.  Hand and Chest Repulsors, which fire bursts of energy, Gatling guns, cannons, and missiles used to combat his enemies.  Night vision, heads-up display, advanced radar and of course, the gift of flight.  Sure we have that now, and it’s called a “Fighter Jet” and it’s huge! Not as compact and light weight as the Iron Man suit which also incorporates an alternate “non conventional” power source.  See where I’m going with this?

(Ok this part is for the UFO researchers) You’ve heard about the flying witches in Mexico?  Possibly Iron Man technology?  Hmmmm?  We know it’s not a witch, they use brooms, these guys fly vertical.  How about a “Skunk Works” facility near the Mexican border?  Maybe a facility in our neighboring country?  Why not, the food’s great!

Back to “Alien Technology.”  Why is Stark Industries so far ahead of the technology curve?  Maybe Tony’s dad had a connection with “let’s say” The Roswell Incident?  Let me explain.

Col. Philip J. Corso (Ret) wrote a book, “The Day After Roswell” and published it before he passed away. In his book he talks about being put in a position in which he was ordered to fold extraterrestrial technology into his present day high-tech industry to help give it a boost.  A rather large boost at that.  Now some of you will say, “Hey! There are a lot of great scientists and engineers who are responsible for modern day technology and don’t take that away from them!” and… I won’t, because I’ve had the pleasure to work with some pretty great minds that have developed pretty great technologies too!  So kudos to them.

(Ok, another part for the UFO researchers) Remember the Bell Labs incident with the engineering note book explaining the concept of the microchip?  Fake?  Or was it real?

Let’s talk about Microchips. The concept of the integrated circuit goes back to a German engineer Werner Jacobi in 1949.  Later a British engineer named Geoffrey Drummer published a paper at a symposium in 1957 discussing his ideas on the IC concept.  The first working device was created in 1958 by Jack Kilby and he filed a patent.  Kilby also won the 2000 Nobel Prize in Physics for his part in that invention.

Let’s jump back to Colonel Corso.  Ok, here we go, and I’d like to thank my good friend Paola Harris (paolaharris.com) with whom I’ve had many conversations on this topic.  Paola was very good friends with Colonel Corso and had interviewed him numerous times.  For more information on the good Colonel, just ask Paola, she’ll steer you in the right direction.

[ Philip J. Corso ]

“My name is Philip J. Corso, and for two incredible years back in the 1960s while I was a lieutenant colonel in the Army heading up the Foreign Technology desk in Army Research and Development at the Pentagon, I led a double life.” [The Day After Roswell, page 2]

“But hidden beneath everything I did, at the center of a double life I led that no one knew about, and buried deep inside my job at the Pentagon was a single file cabinet that I had inherited because of my intelligence background. That file held the army’s deepest and most closely guarded secret: the Roswell files, the cache of debris and information an army retrieval team from the 509th Army Air Field pulled out of the wreckage of a flying disk that had crashed outside the town of Roswell in the New Mexico desert in the early-morning darkness during the first week of July 1947” [The Day After Roswell, page 3]

I don’t like to plagiarize in my blogs or lectures, and I only quote directly from Corso’s book out of shear respect for him while urging all the readers to purchase his book and decide for your selves.  I’ve been researching and investigating the Roswell Incident for about 20 years now, and I can tell you:  It was not a weather balloon, and it was not Project Mogul! The information in Colonel Philip Corso’s book tells me one of two things, he was telling the truth, or he knew the whole story and wrote the book to help solidify the Roswell case.  In his book he mentions how he looked at defense contracts with major companies and universities who were experimenting with technologies in their infant stage which resembled the technologies the Army had found at the Roswell crash. He stated:

“The purpose of our activities were to guarantee a superior competitive position for our army.”

“The leadership, talent and funds were available to take advantage of what we found in order to proceed into a new scientific age.”

Per Col. Corso, the results of the Army’s intervention into the technology arena with alien technology are:

Image Intensifiers

Fiber Optics

Lasers

Fluid Amplification

Integrated Circuits (advanced circuitry)

H.A.R.P

Control Guidance by Brain Waves

Star Wars (not the movie)

(Just to name a few)

Could our very recent years (and I mean that in terms human evolutionary years) of technology advancement be due to an extraterrestrial push?  One decade we’re watching TVs and listening to radios using vacuum tubes, then the next decade we jump to a silicon based microchip which I’m now designing in nanometers.  One decade we’re using computers the size of our living room wall, and now we’re using hand-held computers which outperform the initial legendary Cray super computer.  One decade we’re driving piston pushing petroleum based fueled vehicles, the next decade we’re driving…. uh piston pushing petroleum based fueled vehicles.  Well forget that part, but for now let’s go back to Iron Man, since that’s how this blog started.  Here we have a large private defense contract corporation with (beyond current) leading technology, achieving leaps and bounds far beyond other corporate institutions with equally experienced engineers.  So, what do they have that other similar competitive companies don’t have?  Help from an unlikely out of this world technology source?  Or, are we smarter than what we really think we are?  Either way, witches are flying, radars are detecting, crafts are being seen, cameras are snappin’, video is recording, people are talking and Iron Man is conquering.

As always your comments are greatly appreciated.

To Think Like an Alien, You Must Be an Alien

Posted by zukowski on April 16th, 2010

As long as I’ve been an investigator I’ve been asked “certain questions” like, “If we are being visited by extraterrestrials, then why don’t they just land on the White House lawn, or at some major televised event and make themselves known to us? Because that’s what I would do.”  Well it really doesn’t work that way and it doesn’t matter what you may do or what people think aliens should or shouldn’t do. For some reason humans seem to think they have an answer for everything, including alien reasoning. This can’t be further from the truth. Why is this? Could it be part of our ignorance or part of our culture? Maybe both. Either way it’s a big wake up call for certain people when they just don’t know. It’s not because they’re not intelligent, it’s because they just don’t understand how a different intelligence could think and react, so this tends to scare them.  Humans tend to fear what they can’t comprehend, so they have to find some type of reasoning to satisfy their lack of understanding.  Previously I specified “different intelligence” and not “higher intelligence” so I’ll take a quick detour and explain why.  Just because an alien can travel from a distant star, or maybe defy the physics we currently understand, it doesn’t necessarily mean they could be a higher intelligence.  They could actually be within the same ball park where our intelligence resides.

What if our civilization focused all its attention on technology for travel?  Where would we be now?  Our species has wasted and is wasting so much time and effort learning how to combat each other or trying to be the supreme being of all power on this planet that we really haven’t learned to fully work together.  So many previous technologies have been lost because of this, and the lack of “full” human cooperation and intervention has definitely slowed our technology train.  Don’t agree?  Consider Galileo for one.

Around 1610 Galileo started publicly supporting his theory which stated the Sun was at the center of our solar system.  He was faced with undesirable opposition from other philosophers and religious clerics. Eventually in early 1615 he was confronted by the Roman Inquisition.  In February of 1616 he was cleared of any offense, but the Catholic Church still condemned his theories as false and contrary to their Scripture, so he was warned to abandon his new direction.  After his 1632 publication “Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems” he was tried by the Inquisition, found “vehemently suspect of heresy,” forced to recant his theory and for the rest of his remaining life he lived under house arrest.  All they had to do was listen to the Mayans but that’s another blog of a different story.

So, regardless of your religious beliefs or how you feel about your favorite philosopher, what if Galileo was actually embraced with his new theories?  What if everyone just stopped to take the time to listen and at least explore the possibility rather than try to kill it or the man who was “philoso-phyzing” it? (ie. Bill and Ted)

So back to UFOlogy.  Let’s say an alien race came from a planet where they never experienced that type of conflict. What if this race of aliens evolved with the motivation for travel, to experience new environments, and meet new life forms (Wow sounds like Star Trek).  Could they be that much more intelligent than us?  If we were involved with a different directional thinking of technology back in the early, let’s say, 1300’s where would we be now?  Would we have seen an earlier version of Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein, or Sir Isaac Newton?  Anthropologists have said numerous times that humans 1000’s of years ago still had the mental capacity of modern day humans.  The only thing missing was modern day education.  But our personal evolutionary process has pointed us not only physically in a particular direction but mentally in a particular direction too!  We’ve been so obsessed with our own adversaries on this planet, learning their every move, studying they’re every thought, that we think we can do the same with an unknown species visiting our planet.  We’re still a lot closer to Stanley Kubrick’s 2001 ape race than the enlightened space travelers they become.  For now, the only way to really understand what an alien is thinking is to ask them, or kidnap them.  Actually some researchers say these events have actually happened, but for the sake of not writing a blog the size of “War and Peace,” I’ll just sway from that area (this time).

Again the “Bottom Line” is, it’s very difficult for us to answer unknown questions about an unknown species not indigenous to our planet. For instance:

Why cattle mutilations? What the hell?

Why abductions? Again…What the hell?

Why crop circles? Ok, pretty cool.

Why are you visiting our planet?

How long have you been visiting our planet?

Are you responsible for our technology advancement?

Are you from a distant star or from our future?

What mode of transportation do you use?

Are you responsible for our species’ evolution?

So many questions and yes, so many answers. There are literally thousands of books and papers written about these previous questions.  I’m not saying they’re right or they’re wrong, I’m saying, “Do we really know how an alien thinks?”  Hell, I’m usually wrong when I try to second guess my own wife…  (Hi Hun) NotthatI’msayingmywifeisanalien…but if we can’t even fully understand other cultures or opposites on this planet, then why in the hell do we think we can second guess other species visiting our planet?  Am I the only one seeing this?

So if you ever meet a person who says they know “exactly” how an alien thinks and they know exactly why aliens are visiting our planet doing what they’re doing, just remember this.

To “Think” like an Alien, You Must “Be” an Alien…

So what about that person you may meet?  Your guess is as good as mine.  One guess is to run away, real fast, without looking back, yelling obscenities in different languages, wearing a pirate costume.  Arrrgh!

I’d like to read your guess.  So post your comments or thoughts. Remember your guess could be just as good as my guess. But then again, your guess could be the correct one.

Especially if you’re an alien .……………….(gratuitous Dr. Evil laugh)

The following link is an article written by Maurizio Baiata who is an investigative reporter, magazine editor and UFO researcher for Open Minds TV. In July of 2009, we took Maurizio and Jesse Marcel Jr. to the Roswell debris site where Jesse’s father had gathered crashed alien wreckage for the Roswell Army Air Force Base back in July of 1947. It was our pleasure taking Jesse Marcel Jr. to tour the debris site for the first time. Not only was it awe inspiring for me, but at times I felt a calmness in the air as I watched Jessie reminisce the night his father woke him up and showed him strange debris which forever would change his life. Thank you Maurizio for sharing that moment with us and writing about it.

Ghost Investigation: Hand Hotel, Fairplay Co.

Posted by zukowski on March 26th, 2010

Nestled in the town of Fairplay, located in central Colorado approximately 85 miles west-northwest of Colorado Springs, lies the infamous Hand Hotel. The original hotel was built in 1931 by Jake and Jessie Hand and was furnished with western and Indian memorabilia from the South Park area. The interesting décor and the hospitality created a steady clientele keeping the hotel booked months ahead. The guests enjoyed fishing and hunting excursions as well as day trips into the local mountains.

For breakfast, many guests found tasty trout on the menu caught from the nearby fresh water stream by Jessie Hand herself. She continued fishing until the day of her death.

After visiting the Hotel two years ago while doing a UFO investigation, it’s been my wish to come back and perform a ghost investigation there. Some of the interesting paranormal events which have occurred at the hotel include:

Full body apparitions seen in the hallway on the second floor.

Little girls seen near the stair case.

Facial appearances coming from a mirror in one of the rooms.

Child size impressions on newly made beds.

Playful toying with males in one of the rooms.

Grandma Hand herself appearing to make sure her personal room is kept tidy.

Communicated noises and smells popping in and out of certain rooms.

Shadow figures.

And some say a “demonic dog” lurking in the basement which actually bit one of the previous visitors to the hotel.

Ok, now you see why I was so intrigued with this particular establishment. The hotel manager, Mike couldn’t have been more neighborly giving our team carte blanche of the whole establishment. Taking three rooms for ourselves, two of them having previous “ghostly” experience, we had complete access to other rooms including the basement to further our investigative needs. And boy, the basement was the place to be. One of the hotel stories tells about a “madame” who brought her girls in from Denver and took over the second floor one summer. During that time frame a local doctor visited the hotel and performed abortions on the pregnant “girls of the night” then buried the fetuses in the basement. The following is just a taste of what we accomplished that long but short night. Short because we lost an hour due to daylight savings time. As we go through the hours of tapes and audio, we will be releasing more information on this investigation in which I’ve already caught a couple strange anomalies including some possible EVPs. (Electronic Voice Phenomenon)

(Clockwise from left: Daniel, Genevieve, Trina, Matt & Sarah)

Saturday March 13th was our day to visit the Hotel. The “UFOnut” team consisted of me, Matt, Trina, Genevieve, Daniel and Sarah. Originally we were slated to break up into 3 two-person teams, but unusual occurrences, which you would expect while ghost hunting warranted us to convert to 2 three-person teams. At this time let’s just say it was safer to stay in larger groups.

Equipment ready to be put to good use. Paranormal style.

This image was taken by my Nishika 35mm 3-D camera. (Don’t forget to look at the center vertical black bar and slightly cross your eyes to achieve a third 3D image in the center)

Our equipment setup consisted having two low light Sony CCD DVR cameras stationary. One in the upstairs hallway, and the other in Grandma Hand’s personal bedroom just to the right of this picture. At the time of writing this blog, I’m still going through hours of DVR data. Even though some people seem to think this part of the investigation is boring, I for one enjoy every second looking for strange anomalies.

(Nishika 35mm 3-D camera picture)

We had two Sony night shot 8mm cameras stationary in the basement, one positioned in an area we expected the aborted fetuses were buried, and the other covering an area which included our investigative sessions and a sealed underground tunnel.

(Nishika 35mm 3-D camera picture)

Two more hand held cameras were used; One taken by each team while venturing in the basement and the other manned by Matt, which was used to document the investigation. This Nishika image was taken in complete darkness. The image shows what most ghost investigators have to deal with while walking around. “The hazards of the investigation”. While maneuvering around in these close and darkened quarters, we also carried two ghost hunting EMF meters, a K2 meter, a Natural Tri-Field EMF meter, temperature meters, digital recorders, red LED flashlights, and assorted props to coerce the spirits. We weren’t there to mess around, we meant business and were ready to tackle any “paranormal” situation.

Now, tackling the “paranormal” situation is a different story. If you ever hear of anyone who does ghost investigations say they’ve seen it all or can deal with any paranormal situation, they’re not being truthful. Trust me, we got scared plenty of times that night, but always went back for more. Why? Because we’re stupid that’s why. Anyone who does this has to have a screw loose or just be a UFOnut. It’s always the thrill of any investigation which drives us further…further into the unknown. This particular investigation had plenty of surprises and I guarantee there is something going on at the Hand Hotel. The responses we were getting through our Q & A (EMF meter) sessions were just outstanding. During our verbal sessions and experiments we experienced cold sensations, responses through our EMF meters and one of our team members not only felt something or someone brushing against their leg (not once but numerous times), but also sensed a touch from the apparition. A burning sensation was felt on their lower back elevating to sunburn potential. Marks were seen on the skin and immediately nausea set in, so the session had to be cut short. How do you handle a situation like that? We reconvened upstairs went through a video debriefing then re-organized and went right back to it. Why? Because that’s what you do. Face your fears and deal with them. I’m still learning to face my fears and that’s what makes this type of investigation exciting.

Here’s something interesting to note. After our team member Daniel made it back home, he went to bed to catch up on some z’s before he had to work Sunday night. He was awakened by a strange dream of an old lady telling him that he had taken something of hers. Not knowing what to think about the dream and considering all possibilities, he abruptly got out of his bed and started going through the clothes he was wearing earlier that morning. Guess what? He had forgot to turn in his room key to the front desk. Coincidence or could it have been Grandma Hand scolding him for taking home one of her room keys? Needless to say I contacted the Hand Hotel front desk and immediately mailed the key back to them. Grandma Hand was one tough cookie and none of my team including me, want to get on her bad side.

Matt and I are still going through the video looking for any evidence of the paranormal nature. I will blog on this investigation again releasing any evidence we find. Hopefully we’ll be able to add video too! Good hunting.

UFO investigator working Paranormal “Ghost” investigations? Why?

Posted by zukowski on March 24th, 2010

Haunted Hand Hotel
Fairplay, Colorado

If you noticed on my website, you’ll see a ghost investigation at the Stanley Hotel. You’re going to see more ghost investigations, too!  The UFOnut team just finished one a week ago and have another set-up next month. More on those later.  So, now I’m being asked, “Why is a UFO investigator doing paranormal investigations?  “Why are you intruding on Jason and Grant’s domain?  Cause my wife likes those guys.. I, uh uh… like them too! Do you have no honor or respect for these types of paranormal investigators and their turf? What about the local ghost investigators?  Oh the humanity, oh the spiritual humanity!

Hmmmm… First, let’s discuss the word “Paranormal” shall we?

Paranormal from Wikipedia:
Paranormal is a general term (coined circa 1915–1920 that designates experiences that lie outside “the range of normal experience or scientific explanation”, or which indicates phenomena understood to be outside of science’s current ability to explain or measure.

In other words, the word “Paranormal” does not just pertain to ghosts, it covers a whole gambit of situations outside of current scientific explanation.   So a paranormal investigator covers more than just ghosts.  How about “Cattle Mutilations”, or “Strange Artifacts”, “Unusual Carvings”, “BigFoot”, maybe “Alien Abductions” and of course “Unconventional Flying Objects Non-human Unidentifiable Technologies”?  Yep, that’s me.  I’m not just an expert in one field I’m an “expert” in many fields…Uh, I mean I’m not an expert in every field, but try to help people when they contact me.  And when someone has a ghost, ‘Who do they call’?  Well, sometimes, actually me, and it’s probably because I already have most of the equipment your standard ghost hunter has.  So, when someone asks if I can help them, I say, …. “Ok, what the hell?”  Eventhoughghostsscarethehelloutofme!

Now, since I’ve been investigating in the alien abduction field, I’m starting to see a crossover or a fine line, which is being folded between physical entities and non physical entities.  The Stan Romanek case is a perfect example of this.  It seems the energy surrounding an alien abduction is sometimes attracting spirits.  Sorta like an EMF amplifier or a power source which helps spirits materialize.  A Paranormal UFO Investigator needs to know a little about ghost hunting to be able to properly help these types of witnesses.  And yes, when any investigation is venturing out of the field of my expertise, I do contact the individuals who do those types of investigations all the time.  Why?  Well for one, they’re more experienced at their specific field than I am, and two, when an alien or UFO pops up during their specific type of investigation, they contact me.  And I teach them, as they teach me. This becomes a learning experience for both camps which splice through the many different realms of the unknown.

What about ghost investigations?  Well, I’ve done more than my share with only a couple I initiated, and the rest I was asked to help out.  On all but one, I was able to get some type of unusual results.  The one I didn’t get any results from turned into me instructing a large group of high school kids through an investigation.  You know how it goes:  I was setting an investigation up, and one person tells another person, and so on and so on, and it turned into about 14 people who are there to experience the unknown.  I didn’t mind.  Sometimes you have to say, “Oh well” and go with the flow.  The evening turned out to be a lot of fun and I would do it all over again.  If you can’t find fun in this funny business, then it’s time to get out, because it can control you and affect your personal life.  Well, to say it hasn’t affected my personal life would be a lie, but it hasn’t affected my personal life in a negative way, just in an unusual way.

So… in the future if you see ghost investigations on this website, it’s because the UFOnut team was asked to help, and maybe now and then, me or my team will set one up specifically for an ”on the job training exercise”, or possibly the need for testing new equipment. And once again;  Why do some people ask me to do these types of investigations and not seek out the actual ghost investigators?  Well, for the past couple of years I guess I’m getting a reputation for looking at the unusual from an analytical point of view.  I won’t call an “Ace an Ace” unless my investigation and methodologies point to that, and if me or my team can’t find any type of evidence which verifies a specific type of incident took place or is taking place, then we’ll report that too!  It’s all about trying to approach these types of investigations with an open mind, being non-biased, and just telling it like it is. These are the similar techniques used between UFO investigations and ghost investigations. As for the techniques which are not similar, well that’s where experience comes in and research. A lot of research and preparing yourself and your team for any type of investigation and what to expect.

I’ve been reading responses to some of my blogs from individuals who just think I’m nuts.  Well, that’s us…UFO Nuts, but either way, I call them the way I see them.  Just like a major league umpire.  If it’s a strike, then yell “Strike!”.  Sometimes it’ll curve into a strike, and other times it will curve out, but, if it’s anywhere near the plate in the batting box, then I’ll let you know and you can make the call.  The team’s job is to inform, your job is to agree or disagree or maybe just be able to relate.  Either way, the information is getting out and being talked about.  That’s the best we can all hope for.

Stay tuned.  Same UFOnut time, same UFOnut channel, because we have some interesting things to share with you in the future and I hope you all enjoy the ride as well as we do.  And that includes ghosts, too!

My Interview on “Theatre of the Mind”

Posted by zukowski on March 18th, 2010

Last month It was a pleasure being interviewed by Kelly Howell on her show ”Theatre of the Mind”.

This is what she said about me.

Chuck Zukowski, Paranormal Investigator. I know this is weird, but I’ve always wondered about “Cattle Mutilations.” When I was in Colorado December 2009, there was an incident covered in the news. Chuck Zukowski, was the special Paranormal Investigator brought onto the scene, so I called him. I’m still not sure what or who is the cause of the precise surgical removal of the cow body parts, but Chuck is the guy authorities call to explore the mystery.

The link below is to the show’s podcast.

2010 UFO Congress; A Success!

Posted by zukowski on March 2nd, 2010

The UFO Congress was held February 21st through February 27th in Laughlin, Nevada.  It has  been very successful in the UFO community for nineteen years.   It’s not just because of the talented speakers that they always seem to acquire, but also because of that certain type of individual who has also sacrificed their personal time and money to join in on all of  the excitement.

I talked with people from the East Coast, West Coast, Middle Coast, and beyond.  People from the UK, Australia, Japan and even from Missouri.  Yep, from Missouri, go figure. (I used to live in Missouri)  The one thing I noticed the most about the large genre of humans I conversed with was how interested they were and excited to learn about the latest non-human aspect of this business.  And business it was.  Not from the selling point of how to make a buck, but from the selling point of knowledge and how to get it out.  Oh, sure people were trying to cover their expenses, but they were also covering something much more important, once again, “knowledge”.   This is something much more valuable than the mighty dollar.  It never depreciates and always appreciates.  Numerous times I saw speakers like Stan Romanek, Rich Dolan, Dr. Roger Leir, Paola Harris, Travis Walton (just to name a few) who took the time to” chat the chat” rather than “sell the book”.  It was about teaching, nurturing and sharing experiences. It was about discussing, explaining, and understanding thoughts and visions.  Good lectures always derive from good people, and these are the “good-est”.  It takes a certain individual to sacrifice their time, and their personal life, to share their knowledge to the world. This is humanity at its best and the results I always experience at every great lecture series like this, always exceed expectations.  Sometimes the audience comes there to confirm a feeling or thought, but most of the time they come there just to learn.  And that’s the most powerful tool we can utilize in this crazy environment we call UFOLOGY, learning.

As a speaker at this year’s conference, I too have my idols in which I enjoyed rubbing elbows with.  People I look up to, who help motivate me to try a little harder or go the extra mile.  These are real people, the real investigators, not the posers you seen on TV.  The so-called UFO investigators portraying themselves as experts in the field when actually they are nothing more than a simple actor or some producer’s friend or family member.  Or, maybe they probably read a book or two and sorta did an investigation somewhere, sometime, but they never made the sacrifice the people I saw lecture this past week have made.  And what I saw there this past week was indeed “the real deal”.   As a speaker I’m always asked, “How did you get involved with all this?”  And my reply?  I was just like you and still am.  I used to be in the audience, and am still there.  I used to buy the books, and I still buy.  I used to dream about doing investigations and still dream.  It’s not who you say you are, it’s who you really are.  And you know something?  The visitors at this conference do know the difference and that’s why they made the trek looking forward to brushing their elbows with their idols, just as I did.  It doesn’t matter if you agree or disagree with what the lecture is all about, and it doesn’t matter if you can relate or think you can relate to what they’re talking about.  What matters is you’re there sharing and learning.  Regardless of what some researchers say, there is only one way disclosure will ever succeed, and that’s with people like you who visit the conferences and websites like this one.

So, just to fill you in on what you missed, here are the names of the real investigators who spoke last week.  If you get a chance, try to visit the conference next year.  Maybe you’ll be the one to help get the word out.

2012 The Movie: Movie Fact or Movie Fiction

Posted by zukowski on November 17th, 2009

What can I say about this movie? Not much. As for action packed with over and over and over again cliff hangers, it definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat. As for repeated situations our concerned key players get themselves into, it’s not diculous, but ridiculous. As you root for your favorite characters while they consistently maneuver around Mother Nature’s disastrous obstacles; You tend to forget about the little things in life, like the hundreds of thousands of people in the background going through unmentionable agonizing deaths. Oh the humanity of it all, someone’s grandparents, parents or children getting ripped apart through explosions, or falling great distances to their deaths, or being swallowed up by exaggerated fiery explosions or ultimately suffocating to death while drowning. But you don’t seem to mind, hey, you’re cheering for a dysfunctional family not only trying to save their own lives but trying to save their dysfunctional relationships too! Give me a break. How shallow the movie industry has become writing crap like this, and unfortunately yes, how shallow I’ve become spending money to watch it. And can you believe what they’re charging for large soft drinks now? geeesh. Sure you can sneak in candy and avoid a $4.00 a box charge, but try sneaking in a large soft drink. They can spot that super-sized bulge in your pants a mile away. But let’s forget that ugly picture for a moment and focus on the movie’s premise, “The world comes to an end in 2012.” First let’s look at the movie’s semi-realistic plot then we’ll jump into some information about the Mayan culture and why some think this could actually happen.

The Plot:

In 2009 the sun emits a massive solar flare which causes the Earth’s liquid core temperature to start increasing rapidly. This rapid increase of temperature is due to “Neutrinos” caused by a coronal mass ejection traveling from the Sun through the solar wind. Neutrinos are elementary particles that travel at the speed of light and are electrically neutral. These neutral particles can pass through ordinary matter undisturbed and are difficult to detect. Thus the ordinary citizens of the planet Earth wouldn’t know the event ever happened. Now the Earth has an outer silicate solid crust, a mantle, a liquid outer core and a solid inner core. The Neutrinos react with the liquid outer core which causes the Earths tectonic plates to shift. This shifting was first realized by Alfred Lothar Wegener’s theory proposed in 1915. He hypothesized that the continents were slowly drifting around the Earth over time, but was unable to show a model to demonstrate his theory. Later in the 1950s numerous discoveries inked his theory thus creating evidence of continental drift. So now after the solar flare takes place, a period of three years is needed for the liquid core to be altered and cause a massive continental drift. This three year time period peaks “you guessed it” on Dec 21st 2012. This is also the date the Mayan’s next Long Count Calendar begins.

Disclaimer: I don’t claim to be a specialist on Mayan theology let alone an expert on the 2012 scenario, so if I’m way off base with this please help out in the comments section. If I’m slightly off base also comment, and if I’m close enough, then roll with the flow.

According to information off of various Internet sites and books, we are currently living in the fourth Mayan world. The previous world ended on a Mayan long count calendar date of 12.19.19.17.19. Another 12.19.19.17.19 will occur on December 20, 2012, followed by the start of the next date, 13.0.0.0.0, on December 21, 2012.

From what I’ve read, the Mayan calendar is actually a multitude of other calendars used together. Two common calendars which were used were the Tzolk’in consisting of 260 days and the Haab which has 365 days. The use of both these calendars created a 52 year cycle and is referred as “The Calendar Round.” Another calendar used to follow longer periods of time is called, “The Long Count”. This particular calendar was used to track dates relative to each other on somewhat of a linear scale. This calendar also uses a type of numeric decimal system to record future dates. One example for the Mayan date for December 21st 2012 is [13.0.0.0.0.] The long count calendar cycle was also referred to as the “Great Cycle” and lasts for 5,125.36 years. Researchers in the field of Mayan time analysis say based on our current Gregorian calendar system, the starting date for the current long count cycle was August 11th, 3,114 B.C. Thus the difference between the Great Cycle date and the starting date for the next long count puts us within the December 21st 2012 date.

Did the Mayans also predict the Galactic Equinox where the sun aligns with the center of our galaxy? And does this date also fall on that dreaded 2012 date?

Well some say the Mayans were able to calculate the exact duration of a year to a thousandth of a decimal point, and much better than the Greeks did. Researchers also say the Mayans were able to predict every solar and lunar eclipse up until modern times. Depending on which Mayan researcher you read about, they say the Mayans were able to predict the exact date in which there will be a very close conjunction of the Winter Solstice Sun with the crossing point of the Galactic Equator (Equator of the Milky Way) and the ecliptic. (Path of our Sun). This event the Mayans referred to as the Sacred Tree and will occur on December 21st, 2012 A.D. or 13.0.0.0.0 the beginning of their next Long Count calendar.

There is also concern an alignment of inner planets within our solar system will also fall within that time frame. Well, referring to a Sky and Telescope Sky Chart, these are the planet alignments I found for December 20th and 21st 2012.

Dec 20th 2012 7:00am: Saturn, Venus, and Mercury in our South East horizon.

Dec 20th 2012 5:00pm: Mars, Moon, and Jupiter in our North East horizon.

Dec 21st 2012 7:00am: Mercury, Venus, and Saturn in our South East horizon.

Dec. 21st 2012 5:00pm: Mars, Moon, and Jupiter in our North East horizon.

All these alignments were referenced as seen from Colorado on those respective dates.

There is also concern about what our Sun will do if there is a Galactic Equinox along with inner planet alignments. Remember it was a solar flare which caused the demise of our planet in the movie.

Well some researchers say the end of the Great Cycle is also the culmination of a series of long-term sunspot cycles which will flip our planet’s magnetic field causing earthquakes and flooding. One large coronal mass ejection could flip an already weak magnetic field we are currently experiencing causing our magnetic poles to shift. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration – US Department of Commerce, predicts our current 11 year cycle of solar storms will peak in late 2011 or mid 2012.

Segment from the NOAA website:

During an active solar period, violent eruptions occur more often on the Sun. Solar flares and vast explosions, known as coronal mass ejections, shoot energetic photons and highly charged matter toward Earth, jolting the planet’s ionosphere and geomagnetic field, potentially affecting power grids, critical military and airline communications, satellites, Global Positioning System signals, and even threatening astronauts with harmful radiation. These same storms illuminate night skies with brilliant sheets of red and green known as auroras, or the northern or southern lights.

Solar cycle intensity is measured in maximum number of sunspots – dark blotches on the Sun that mark areas of heightened magnetic activity. The more sunspots there are, the more likely it is that major solar storms will occur.

So based on what we know about Mayan predictions, about the Galactic Equinox, about inner planet alignment and solar activity, was the movie 2012 Movie Fact, or Movie Fiction? Well all I can say is, “Run for Africa! Do it now!” Just kidding… ( but ) Magnetic Pole shifting was theorized by Charles Hapgood in his book, “The Earth’s Shifting Crust (1958)”. Albert Einstein actually wrote the forward for that book. Hapgood speculated the forces that caused shifts in the crust must be located below the surface possible within the liquid core. Hapgood also argued that each shift took roughly 5000 years, followed by 20,000 to 30,000 year periods with no polar movement. Also the area of movement never covered more than 40 degrees. Some speculate that the next shift falls on December 21st 2012.

So once again, was the movie 2012 Movie Fact, or Movie Fiction? I guess it all depends on who you talk with. I would like to think I’ll be celebrating Christmas at home on 2012 worrying more about my Christmas lights working (which are way-cool) than worrying about the end of our planet. We should actually be more concerned about small asteroids traveling between our planet and our moon which happen quite frequently. At least two this year as far as I know. But the 2012 scenario will still be debated from now till December 2012, and if you’re like me, you’ll just sit back listen to all the arguments, read all the data, then still plan on celebrating a 2012 holiday season. How about some Egg Nog with Rum?

The Fourth Kind “Movie Fact or Movie Hoax”

Posted by zukowski on November 11th, 2009

“The Fourth Kind” was written and directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi and is his first major film project.  The film was shot in Bulgaria, Alaska, and Los Angeles, California on a very modest budget.  Trailers from the movie and its marketing department claim it’s a re-enactment of actual abduction cases which occurred in Nome, Alaska. The film also boasts having real documented file footage taped by the investigator.  Starring Milla Jovoich who is a 34 year old Ukrainian born actress, supermodel and fashion designer, she portrays a Nome, Alaska therapist who is involved in aggressive alien abduction investigations.

The term “Fourth Kind” originated as a UFO classification system derived by J Allen Hynek in the early 1970’s.

Close Encounters of the First Kind: Basic UFO sighting pertaining to unknown craft or lights.

Close Encounters of the Second Kind: A UFO sighting which leaves some form of physical evidence.

Close Encounter of the Third Kind: “The Movie” Just kidding, usually beings are observed.

Close Encounter of the Fourth Kind:  Humans abducted by aliens.

Close Encounter of the Fifth Kind:  Coined by Dr. Steven Greer includes bilateral contact.

Close Encounters of the Sixth Kind:  This usually includes alien contact resulting in injury or death.

Close Encounter of the Seventh Kind: This encounter results in the creation of hybrids.

Close Encounter of the Eighth Kind:  Coined by me, is the ultimate sacrifice, marriage with an alien. I’m sure some of the readers actually believe they’ve experienced this one.

In September 2009, an investigation by the Anchorage Daily News examined the validity of the films claims including its relation to actual disappearances which occurred near Nome.  Their investigation found no specific alien type events to back up the claims in the movie.  The missing individuals recorded near Nome were a result of having a high rate of alcoholism combined with a harsh landscape environment.

Note:  Upon writing this blog I went to the Anchorage Daily News website to retrieve this particular article and its web site location was empty.  Maybe because of the amount of possible downloads to view it, or maybe something else. Only the Daily News knows for sure.

The movie claims Nome Alaska therapist Dr. Abigail Tyler was involved in a very intense alien abduction investigation in which she and her children were also abducted.  The abductions were so aggressive that it caused one of the abductees she was examining to commit murder suicide and another to physically break his back bone after going through hypnotherapy. The film also used split screen techniques to show the actress acting out specific situations alongside supposed documented footage portraying Dr. Tyler.  The movie also showed a police cam video of an abduction taking place.  So, is this film portraying an actual alien abduction investigation, or is this film just a Hollywood hoax?

Well let’s look at some issues:

- No bio can be located (at this time) on Dr. Abigail Tyler or info on her residence in Nome, Alaska.

- Nome, Alaska UFO investigations are scarce, and aggressive alien abductions probably would have been reported or leaked to accredited investigators somewhere in Alaska or Russia, “If they could see that country from their back door.”

- The document file footage portrayed in the movie appeared cheesy looking, purposely manipulated, and nothing like any file footage me or other investigators had seen on previous investigations.

- If a police patrol car cam had filmed a possible alien abduction, chances are the FBI would have acquired the film footage and it wouldn’t be available to any unknown film maker.

- The FBI did investigate missing persons in the area surrounding Nome and attributed those cases to the harsh environment and nothing unusual.

- Consulting other UFO investigators and researchers, we have never heard of Dr. Abigail Tyler or her investigations from Nome. We’ve also have never heard of any stream of abduction cases coming from that state.

So, in conclusion based on conversations and emails with other investigators, the film is nothing more than a Hollywood hoax.  The marketing team lied to the general public making false claims just to pad their pocket books.  As for the actresses and actors, well, they were doing what they do best, act.  If anyone disputes this blog saying the movie is factual, then put up or shut up, let’s see your evidence backing up your claims.  Now, obviously I’m not familiar with every investigation ever done or their locations, so I rely heavily on other investigators and researchers for help.  All my contacts came up with the same conclusion, “Hoax”.   Now on the lighter side, I enjoyed the movie and the way it played out. There were intense segments all through the film which had me on the edge of my seat.

So.. as a UFO investigator and a “not-so” film critic, I give this film, “3 stars, 1 moon, and a can of Spam”.

Halloween, Scarier Than UFO Investigations?

Posted by zukowski on October 26th, 2009

UTE VALLEY ROCK FACE INVESTIGATION, COLORADO SPRINGS, CO

Halloween comes but once a year and originates from a Pagan holiday, which we still celebrate today, but for a different purpose.  Originally Halloween landed on the last day of the eighth month of the Roman calendar, and the name October originated from the Latin word “octo” meaning “eight”.  Halloween or originally known as “All Hallows Eve” dated back over 2000 years and actually landed on the last day of the Celtic calendar year.  The Celtic word Samhain signifies “summer’s end” or the beginning of the Roman month November.  Samhain was a harvest festival with giant bonfires marking the end of the Celtic year and the beginning of a new one.  The Celts originally believed the souls of the dead roamed the village streets on this night and since some of the souls may not be so friendly, the Celts left offerings of gifts and treats.  Villagers would also extinguish the fires in their homes to make them cold and undesirable to the spirits and prevent possible haunting and possessions from the bad spirits.  They would also dress in ghoulish costumes and make lots of noise to frighten away the bad spirits so they could enjoy the company of the good spirits which, they believed to be friends and family.

The festival of Samhain transformed into what we now know as Halloween when the Christian missionaries attempted to change the religious practices of the Celtic people.  Not being able to change the Druid beliefs, Christians created their own holiday for competition thinking eventually their new holiday would take over the Celtic one.  Thus, All Saints day was created and originally fell on the same day as All Hallows Eve.  Eventually the new holiday was bumped by one day and now lands on November 1st which is a celebration for all the Christian Saints.

As a UFO Investigator we get to celebrate some sort of Halloween every time we go on a paranormal/alien type of investigation.  I never really thought about this until a local reporter printed that I investigate most things people generally ‘run from’.  I got to thinking, “Hell yeah I do!”   I get to celebrate Halloween all the time, but without wearing the costumes, well except for some of the t-shirts I wear.  But, do UFO investigators ever get scared while on an investigation?  Once again, “Hell Yeah We Do!”  If you’re not a little scared, then you’re not at your best.  With being a little scared, you become very cautious which could land you some good evidence.  You also become very skeptic about everything you see and hear eliminating all the human-like possibilities, which could damage your investigation.  But back to being scared, I’d like to share with you one of my humorous stories resulting from one of my many investigations.

One late night I was near the city of Rush Colorado off the main highway on an old ranch dirt road.  This particular investigation was to research a recent cattle mutilation and craft sighting which had previously occurred in that area.  Ok, I’ll set the mood…. it was a moonless clear night, a little chilling but not too cold.  I stood in the tall weeds near a ranch fence just feet away from my parked jeep.  Watching the dark sky with my night vision scope and listening to the Coast to Coast show on the Jeep’s radio, I cautiously scanned the night sky and distant horizon looking for anything which might appear unusual looking.  Slowly scanning to the left towards an open field, I thought I heard a noise through my right ear.  Stopping all breathing momentarily to increase the silence of the night, once again I heard a shuffle noise to my right.  Eyes open wider than the optics of my scope, I slowly scanned to my right looking through the night vision tring to spy on the source of the noise I was hearing.  Once again I heard the noise and quickly jerked to the right.  Now scope in hand and up to my eye, to my horror and dis-belief I saw two large oval looking eyes staring right back at me!  Now these eyes were not low to the ground but at my eye level and HUGE!  Slowly putting my scope down and reaching for my flashlight with my left hand, and slowly putting my thumb and fore finger on the tip of my 9mm Ruger handle which was holstered to my right hip, (Oh did I tell you I carry a gun on these investigations? I’m not an idiot, I don’t go unarmed, especially when I’m by myself).  Anyway, lifting the flashlight to my chest, my plan was to hit the light, then decide whether or not to draw my gun from its snapped holster.

Oh “ADD” moment:  On this date of writing the blog, October 26th, back  in 1881, was the gunfight at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona.  The gunfight which started about 3pm in a vacant lot near Fremont street resulted with about thirty gun shots which were fired within thirty seconds.  Involving the Earps, Doc Holiday, the McLaurys and the Clantons, this gun fight is generally regarded as the most famous gunfight in the history of the Old West.  Wah-hoo!

OK, back to the story.  Holding my breath I moved my thumb to the side switch on my black steel Stinger flashlight and pushed in slowly.   A bright beam of light shot forward  illuminating 15 or so feet of dark space between me and the noise as I peered forward.  Heart pounding, breathing paused, there stood in front of me….. a 1500 pound cow.  OK, I let a 1500 pound cow sneak up on me!   Oh yeah, this sucker was big and  in stealth mode.  Moving like an obese Ninja through the darkness of night, this God’s creature scared the Shit Out of Me!  Some investigator, letting this manufacturer of milk and beef scare the “beef-i-cass” out of me.  I have to laugh and still laugh about it today.

So can Halloween be more scary than some UFO investigations?  Actually, this story was a more comicable type, and is always fun to tell.  I have been involved in UFO investigations which fall into the realm of “actual” scary and some I can’t even talk about because the people involved.  I’ll share some of those stories later, but the moral of this Halloween blog is to focus on the humorous side of an investigation.

How about this for a moral?

The next time you’re out late at night, in the middle of no-where, and you think a scary entity is slowly creeping up on you, it might just turn out to be, “A big fat stupid ol’cow who’s only intention in life is to use ancient Cow Ninja tactics to sneak up and scare the crap out of you!” Geeeesh…

Balloon Boy a Learning Experience

Posted by zukowski on October 20th, 2009

baloon_boy

On October 15th when I first heard about a weather balloon becoming un-tethered and flying around the state of Colorado, I thought hmm, we’re going to get allot of  UFO sightings with this one.  When I heard a 6 year old boy might be inside the balloon, I thought, “ Holy Shi@#$%&”.  I along with others watching this on TV and monitoring the news on the Internet needed to see how it would all play out.

UFO investigators watch events like this one very closely and learn from them.  Doing so can help us with future dramatic investigations in learning how the media and the public deals with them.  I’m sorry to say that after I started reading the initial reports to get my self up-to-speed with the media, I quickly started thinking hoax.  Somehow deep down, I knew the little boy would not be in the balloon and still be at home.  Call it an investigative gut feeling, or just being cautious and not throwing the horse before the cart.  I know the media is good at exploiting any situation to extreme conditions to satisfy their own publicity needs.   They are no longer reporting the news to inform the public, but have become the very intrusive Paparazzi clones that instead of stalking celebrities, stalk the news.  And stalk they do, capturing every channel, interrupting favorite TV shows just to push information to the viewer they believe is relevant to what the viewer needs.  They’ve become so flaccid as so called news investigators, that they themselves miss the very red flags, which once again defines a comfort zone between common sense and intelligent common sense.  How sad they’ve become, and I have to laugh now when they’re only excuse is, “Oh even the mighty TV reporter can get ‘shammed’ from time to time, then they proceed to give us previous examples when this happened.  They refuse to admit that their investigative skills have gone the way of the Dodo and Woolie.  Maybe they should start taking lessons from UFO Investigators who handle the unusual stories regularly and think before they speak.

While reading initial reports my Spider senses started kicking in, I mean my UFO investigative skills I immediately started thinking hoax.  Not a day or 2 days later, but at the get go.  Something didn’t smell right with this story and too many red flags started showing up.  This event was turning into a (grade A) number one hoax, something seasoned UFO investigators have a tendency to spot from time to time.

Disclaimer:  Even though I originally thought this event was a hoax and still do, the Colorado judicial system will ultimately make that decision and we should consider the Heene family innocent until proven guilty.

Ok back to the hoax.. (he he)

Immediately, I started questioning some of the media facts. (ie: Media facts are not necessarily the real facts, but what they consider factual news and report on.)  The media has been known to “bend” the truth for ratings.  Ya think?  And, they are just as responsible for the “proposed” hoax as the individuals who initiated it.  Ratings, it’s all about ratings and mindless TV sponges suck it all up and bow to the demi-Gods of media expertise who shove it down their faces.  Yeah, I have issues with these guys, and yes I’ve dealt directly with them in the past so I do have the right to voice my opinion.

Well the first Original Red Flag for me was: Why was the Mylar weather balloon filled with helium?  Helium is a natural gas which is drilled for.  I believe Texas and Oklahoma have natural gas wells that contain around 5% more helium, and is extracted there.  Helium is actually rare!  The gas field has to be enclosed in radioactive rock for helium to be produced.  It takes millions of years for the radioactive rock to slowly decay to create this gas.  So, why was the balloon partially filled with helium?  This balloon was getting ready for flight!  If someone was going to check for leaks in an experimental balloon, then you would use just air, it’s a lot cheaper.

Second Original Red Flag: How was the balloon released?  Authorities claim the silver balloon was 20 feet long and 5 feet high. This sucker was big?  Only a complete idiot would partially fill a balloon of this size with helium, and then use only mediocre constraints to secure it.  This didn’t just escape, it was released.  Well, later reports confirmed my original assumption.  It was purposely released as seen by later video.

Third Original Red Flag: An older brother saw his younger sibling go inside the base of a helium filled balloon, to play? Where the Hell were their parents?  Geeesh!  Can you say, “Child Services?”

Fourth Red Flag: Could this type of balloon carry a pay-load weight of an average size boy of his age?  A Colorado State University physics professor, using dimensions given by Richard Heene, had told sheriff’s officials as they were tracking the balloon Thursday that it was plausible for it to lift off with 37-pound (17-kilogram) Falcon inside.  So, the fourth red flag was answered by a creditable authority.  But what about the other three?

Let’s look at the original report:

The father had told reporters the family was in the early stages of working on a “3D low-altitude vehicle” (aka balloon) when the contraption and the boy went missing.  His brother had said he watched Falcon get into the balloon before (the father) had un-tied the tethers, setting it free.  Heene later said Falcon was videotaped getting into the vessel by his brother, but “obviously he got out.” Once it was untethered, the saucer-like craft flew eastward from the Heenes’ neighborhood and across Colorado’s countryside.

Now a week later we have a better idea how this event went down and of course now the media is screaming “Hoax!” Well maybe if they thought more like a UFO investigator they wouldn’t have egg on their face. With every UFO investigation assigned to me or one I go after, I always start as a skeptic first.  Yep, you have to look for all the red flags then proceed with caution.  This story is a great example of jumping into an investigation too quickly and not being careful then leaning towards “stupid”.  Yep, we can all learn something valuable from this story when it comes to investigations.

First, look at the source of information.  If your witness has a history of suspicious behavior, then suspect him, or her and perform the appropriate tasks to cover all the bases, and this does include chasing a balloon which may have the slightest chance a child is on board.

Second, what happened to completing an on-site initial investigation?  In the case of the missing boy, a proper canine unit would have found him pretty quickly.

Third, suspect and expect the unexpected.  Challenge everything!  Look for anything unusual, watch for red flags and go after them.

Fourth, keep an eye on what’s going on around you and watch your eyewitness’s actions and reactions.  If the media is present, watch what they’re doing which may make your investigation more difficult to pursue.

Fifth, try to run your own initial investigation and don’t let your initial opinion or thoughts be curved by outside sources.  Go with your gut feeling even though it may be completely different from the majority rule.  Use your previous experience through investigations to help you decide what your next plan of action is.

Sixth, compare notes with other investigators after your initial thought process. This will help you excel in the direction you want to go.  You may or may not agree with the other opinions, but give yourself the opportunity to make that decision.

So after reading this blog please leave a comment, because my blog and your comments will help me and other investigators excel in this crazy business.  What are your thoughts about the “Balloon Boy Incident”?

Stan Romanek’s word “Fallow” versus “Follow”

Posted by zukowski on October 1st, 2009

MUFON’s “head honcho” James Carrion had previously posted a blog in which he insinuated abductee Stan Romanek had fabricated an Air Force document which was used in his abduction case.  James’s accusation is based on a misspelled word which appeared on the government document as well as three other documents Stan was responsible for.  The word in question is “fallow” instead of “follow”.  I would assume James caught the misspelled word in the Air Force document, then searched other documents written by Stan and found the misspelled word in three others.  One thing I don’t know is, “How many documents James had researched to find the three in question or how he was even able to acquire the Air Force document for comparison?”  Stan had stated numerous times, the document was never given to MUFON.  Well, this post is not to lay blame on either side, but to look into the aspects of the misspelling of a word.

People misspell words everyday and unless you have the proper spell-checker embedded within the software you’re typing through, certain words will get through.  No argument here, we’ve all seen this.

Another issue is using a word out of context or contents… hmm… yeah context.  How about words like “follow” to “fallow” or my favorite, “from” to “form”.  These words will spell check alright and slip through your fingers, only leaving the reader with the unnecessary feeling of, “what did that mean?”

Ok, since the word “fallow” is of most interest here, let’s take a look at it.

Fallow:
Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary
Main Entry: 1fal·low
Pronunciation: \?fa-(?)l?\
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English falow, from Old English fealu; akin to Old High German falo
pale, fallow, Latin pall?re to be pale, Greek polios gray
Date: before 12th century : of a light yellowish-brown color

Well obviously all the documents were describing the color of the aliens.  They’re not gray or is it grey, but a light yellowish brown color.  Well, time to hop back to the Internet for answers.  Here are a few websites which talk about commonly misspelled words.  And yes, you’ll probably find some misspelled words or grammar issues in this blog too! I’m only human, or am I?

So, back to misspelled words which can show up on documents on the Internet or just happen to show up on government documents in your mailbox.  We can see in just these few cases, only a couple of words were in common.  Do only certain misspelled words pop up depending on the type of document written, or the person or persons writing them?  Or, do they show up due to the type of spell checker associated with the software used?  Let’s look at the word “fallow” again.  Lisa Romanek was so kind to send me this list of links in which the word “fallow” and “follow” were used and confused.

( Thank you Lisa )

What’s the conclusion?  The government document in question is out of Schriever AFB, Co.  I’m not going to detail what the document says, except for the last line stating, “we will fallow up as things unfold”.  This is where the dreaded word “fallow” shows up.  Here’s the question to the readers of this blog: Could a government document include a word which is misspelled but missed due to the misspelling being an actual word with a different definition? (Get that?)  Also, can this word be so commonly misspelled that it could be included with different documents associated to the same person?  Here’s another scenario:

What if the document is fake, but not at the hands of Stan Romanek in which James Carrion implies, but at the hands of another agency or individuals created for an unknown reason?

I know for a fact there is an unknown agency trying not only to intimidate Stan and his family, but also trying to and succeeding at times to infiltrate Stan’s investigation.  The last attempt was just a few days ago in which I responded.  We know there are individuals trying to disrupt Stan’s life and create disinformation in his investigation.  This government document could be a product of this, or it could be an actual document which was given to Stan from an unknown source.  And yes, the third possibility would be Stan created the document himself.  But, from what I’ve seen in people I’ve interviewed, this wouldn’t be a possibility in my eyes.  Am I bias?  I don’t think so.  Stan is still having experiences in which I can’t talk about.  So, what about the misspelled word?  How about we hear from you, the readers?  How many “official” documents have you seen misspelled?  Got some to share?  How about other thoughts on this issue?

UFO Debunkers

Posted by zukowski on September 24th, 2009
chuck_scared

What is a “UFO” debunker?
Am I a UFO debunker??

Is this an individual who purposely tries to debunk a UFO sighting by lying, or an individual who believes that the possibility of life visiting this planet is ridiculous?  Could this be a person who is just trying to debunk a particular investigation based on lack of evidence or some contaminated evidence associated with the case?  Or, could it be UFO investigators?

As a MUFON investigator I’ve been “pegged” a debunker too!  I’ve been told that just my association with MUFON has labeled me a debunker and a “hide-r of truth”.  Sure, I’m a skeptic with every UFO or Paranormal investigation I start with.  I’ve stated that numerous times even on national TV.  Hell, you have to be.  This business will eat you alive if you don’t address every sighting with some suspicion.  If you think every light in the sky sighting is a UFO, or alien related, then it’s time to find another pastime hobby.  When addressing any new and current investigations, I like to base my thoughts on common sense or what I like to call, “Intelligent Common Sense”.  Let me explain.

Common Sense:   Consists of thoughts or actions in which people in common would agree with.

People in common?  Common to what?  How about to society at this point in time and at a particular location on this planet. So common sense can, and will vary throughout this planet.

Intelligent Common Sense:   This is the variety of common sense used wisely.  There is some form of a thought process when making a common sense decision or a common sense claim.  Common sense tells us life exists outside this planet.
Intelligent Common sense makes the claim, “There’s a real possibility that life outside this planet has visited us in the past, or could be visiting us currently”.  This statement is conclusively based on what we know of this planet’s history, its science, and what we know about the planets outside our solar system.  Of course this all changes with every new bit of information we learn about ourselves and the universe.  And at this time, it looks pretty good for the aliens.

Ok, Intelligent Common Sense.  I love using this term in UFO investigations.  Why?  Because this can be used in your favor against debunkers, skeptics and pesky reporters.

Case in Point:   My sister Debbie and I were responsible for two Press Releases out of Roswell within the past two years.  One on July 5, 2008 and one on April 30th of this year.  Both times we used Intelligent Common sense on what we said, who we brought with us, and what information we gave out to the public.  In both cases the debunkers were very limited to what I call the “Armchair Debunkers”.

Armchair Debunkers:   These are individuals who have nothing better to do than to make a negative comment about your investigation based solely on their opinion.  This term, “Based on their opinion”, is very important.  They may or may not have performed research, but my experience has shown me that their motivation is purely based on their personal views of one’s claims.  Now it’s not up to me or my sister to convince anyone of what we are claiming, it’s our personal quest just to get the information out and let the viewers, conference attendees, or readers, make up their own minds.

This brings me back to “Debunkers”.  Most of the time it’s very frustrating dealing with these people but (and here’s the proverbial but), Debunkers will keep you honest and focused on your investigation.  They are a necessary evil to UFO
investigators.  They are?  Absolutely!  Any “so called” investigator or charlatan can make a claim about a UFO event.  Then they say this, “Well the burden of proof of disclaiming what I’m presenting is on you.”  No.  The burden of proof lies with the person making the claim based on what investigative research they’ve done up to that point.  After that, the burden of proof lies with the individuals who are making the negative claims about the investigation.  This separates the boys from the men, the women from the girls, the aliens from the ghosts, or uh… well it just separates them.  Investigators as well as Debunkers fall within these walls.  I say this, but you said that, what proof do you have I said this, what proof do you have I didn’t?  Oh the merry-go-round methods of UFO investigations.  It never ends, grab a ticket and come along for the ride.  It’s always exciting and different.

A comment on one of my YouTube videos on the “Roswell Rock Circle” from a debunker suggested I just do this for fame. Most of us UFO investigators know this is a complete joke and a lazy excuse from a debunker.  Why?  Because, “There’s no money in this!”  It’s not a career for gosh sakes, it’s a hobby.  A hobby which takes more out of pocket money than in pocket money.  We do this because we want to, not because we have to.  Fame, what a lame excuse used by this particular debunker.  And they always say, “Well I know this guy, or I have a friend”  that can debunk you, but nothing’s ever conclusive.  Just a bunch of unnecessary noise they feel they need to say.  So who is looking for fame?  The investigator or the debunker?  Hmmmm? At the end of the day, it’s about our passion, and yes, perhaps our belief. We do this for a cause and, yes, we certainly hope to bring about awareness. If you confuse that with a selfish pursuit of fame, then UFO investigators like myself will never convince you otherwise.

Good debunkers are ones which have done their own investigations or have done their own research on your claims or on the particular investigation you’re working with.  I listen to these guys (or gals) because they’ve spent personal
time and energy on the investigation.  They could be absolutely correct about a particular part of your investigation, or they may have found evidence which contradicts what you have.  Of course they can be absolutely wrong too and
completely “off base”.  Either way, as an investigator you can’t possibly find all the information about the project you’re on. You have to rely on the positive and negative information of your investigation to pursue it further.  Roswell is a good example of this.  The problem with these types of debunkers who are also investigators, is that they will pick apart one little aspect of an incident or investigation.  They make the claim, “Well if “so and so” said this and I can prove it’s wrong, then you can’t believe anything “so and so” says.  If that was true, then why even have a Democratic Government?  We all know there are truths and untruths coming out of DC.  We’re betting our lives and our dreams that the truths outweigh the untruths by a lot.  Pretty scary huh?

In every investigation I do, there are always some flaws.  We’re all human and the flaws are usually related to the human aspects associated with the evidence of the investigation.  Criminal investigations see this all the time.  People are sent to prison every day because the negatives outweigh the positives of the investigation.  Debunkers feed on this.  They’ll find one or two “hiccups” then run on them.  They say things like, “Even investigators can get caught up in the lies or misconceptions of the investigation”.  Well, the debunkers can too!  A person becomes a debunker when they’re bias towards a particular UFO event or person outweighs their ability to be objective and reasonable.  They may not realize they’re bias, and sometimes it takes an outside source to convince them, but they’re biased nevertheless.

Then again, as a UFO investigator we can become debunkers too!  We may be so convinced with the evidence or “lack of” evidence we have, that we think our investigation is bullet proof.  A good investigator always “refreshes” the evidence they have and just doesn’t assume any new evidence is valid.  Sometimes it’s hard to re-question a witness because they don’t understand why you can’t just believe them.  But, at this time, I’m happy to say all my current investigations, although not bullet proof, have sufficient good evidence which outweighs the insufficient, bad evidence.  This “teeter totter” action is what enables investigators to pursue their investigations further.  And it’s all because of debunking.  Good, bad, right, wrong, or sometimes completely ridiculous, we all need a little debunking in every one of our investigations if we’re ever going to learn the truth about it.

Lights in the Sky

Posted by zukowski on September 21st, 2009

The majority of sightings UFO investigators receive are mostly lights in the sky.  Using the classification system first generated by J Allen Hynek, lights in the sky would be classified as CE1.

-          CE1: Close Encounters of the First Kind. Generally lights in the sky or a UFO sighted within 500 feet.  This is the most common of all sightings and I’ll discuss this one further.

-          CE2: Close Encounters of the Second Kind. This is a sighting in which some form of physical evidence is left behind.  Cases which have marks on the ground, broken tree branches, or residue or wreckage left behind.

-          CE3: Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Ok this one is cool, a visual sighting of an occupant or entity associated with the UFO sighting.  Usually the standard “Grey” alien is observed, but many people have described a vast majority of different type of alien species.

-          CE4: Close Encounters of the Fourth Kind. This sighting would refer to the Stan Romanek case.   An abduction of a person by an alien being or race of aliens.

-          CE5: Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind. Direct contact or communication with an alien being or race.  Could this include government alien intervention?  Did President Eisenhower have a meeting with extraterrestrials on February 20th, 1954?  The story goes that President Eisenhower was secretly and quickly escorted from his family holiday in Palm Springs California to Edwards Air Force Base California to meet with an extraterrestrial race.  The meeting resulted in a treaty between the alien race and the US government.

Back to “Lights in the Sky”.  Some lights in the sky are basically an optical illusion.

An optical illusion:   A visual perception of a real object in such a way as to misinterpret what the object actually is.

The most common illusion is when you try to concentrate on an infinite distance image in the night sky.  Look at a star and try to focus on it.  Your right eye will try to focus while you’re left eye tries to focus causing the speck of light to look like it’s moving slightly left to right and back again.  We get these type of sightings all the time especially in the winter when Venus pops up or in the summer when Jupiter arises.

Another light in the sky which has a tendency to look like it  moved is generally spotted in photographs and not at the time the photo was taken.  What happens is a picture is taken of a light source in the sky, but when the image is seen, the object appears to have moved.  Generally the object looks like it moved from upper left to lower right creating a blurred streak.  The object is actually a stationary light source and the movement is caused by the person’s finger pushing down on the shutter button.  This type of condition occurs all the time with law enforcement officers at the shooting range.  If you’re right handed and you move the weapon slighting while depressing the trigger, the bullet usually goes to the lower left.  Try this yourself.  Hold out your hand pointing your index finger straight out and pretend to pull the trigger using your middle finger.  What happens?  Your index finger moves to the left.  You just “missed the target”.  Same thing happens when you take a picture.  While taking a picture of a single spec of light from a great distance, the movement of pressing your finger down on the shutter button moves the camera slightly down to the right (if you’re right handed) causing the image to look as though it’s moved.  If you want to take a picture of a stationary light in the sky which is suspected to be a UFO, then place your camera on a tripod.  If your camera has a timer function, then use that and let the mechanics of the camera take the picture.  You should be able to get a clean clear picture.  Now if the object looks like it’s moving, then you’ve got something to investigate.

I’m still learning about digital cameras and the pictures they take.  Remember a digital camera is re-creating or digitally creating the image your seeing.  Depending on the size of the optical lens and the camera’s software, it will depend of what type of results you’ll get.  What we’re seeing a lot on digital photos now is a bright orb looking light image with a black circle or smudge in the middle. This black smudge or circle is usually caused by the camera’s software and lack of memory to complete the image.  While trying to make the rest of the picture look great, the camera’s software basically gives up with the bright light source and leaves a void in the middle.  This results in a black dot or smudge in the middle of the bright flash-like looking object you shot.  Now I’m not saying you’re not taking a picture of an unknown light source, what I’m saying is, “Don’t put too much thought into what’s coming out of the middle of the bright flash.”  You can practice this illusion yourself by taking pictures of very bright light sources.  Be careful not to damage the optics in your camera while doing this.  Also watch out for lens flares.  These are the crescent looking comet tail dragging creatures shooting out of the bright light source. They always look the same, the crescent side is the curvature of the lens and it’s tail is the resulting lens flare.  They’re always moving away from the bright light source.  Be careful looking at pictures which may have caught the sun or bright moon in the background behind some trees.  A digital camera will pick up on this and try to bring the image out on the picture for you.  It’s just doing it’s job trying to make your picture look great.  Also, lower end “cheaper” cameras will create their own optical illusions.  Remember you get what you pay for.  If you’re consistently taking pictures of an unknown light source be it in the sky or in the woods, switch cameras and even switch the manufacturer.  Try to re-create the unknown light source with a completely different camera.  If you succeed, now you may have something unique.

I hope these little tid-bits help you in your quest while taking pictures of lights in the sky.  Remember be the best skeptic while analyzing your images and try to recreate the shot if you can.  Without doing this, it’s fuel for the de-bunker fires and they will attack.  More on “Lights in the Sky” later.  Happy Hunting!

Ufology

Posted by zukowski on September 10th, 2009

While I was working on a bio and brief description about a lecture I’ll be giving at the 2010 UFO Congress February 21-27, 2010 in Laughlin, Nevada (plug), I started thinking about the word “Ufology”.  The word itself is defined as, “The study of unidentified flying objects”.  As a “so called” professional Ufologist and I state that lightly because I question the validity of many who claim to be professional Ufologists, I too, like most, don’t harbor a degree in “Ufology”. Is there one? So what constitutes a professional Ufologist? Is this someone who partakes in UFO related field investigations? How about someone who researches the field then writes books and lectures to profit, or maybe a credited scientist who dabbles outside their field of expertise into the unknown?
